TS · stream captures · up to 10 h or 5 GB

Transcribe a long TS file the talk, not the gigabytes.

A two-hour TS capture is 120 minutes, which the $6 pack (500 minutes) covers with 380 left, and the transcript is ready about four minutes after the upload. TS files of HD video often run several gigabytes an hour, so the 5 GB limit arrives long before 10 hours; the first 20 minutes are free, and if the upload refuses the file, convert it to MP3 first.

Transport stream captures

Most of a TS file is picture. The words are small.

Why captures end up as TS

MPEG transport stream was made for broadcast, where a lost packet must not ruin the rest. Stream recorders, TV tuners and tools that save live streams often write .ts for the same reason: a capture cut off halfway still plays up to the cut.

Size per hour

A TS file carries video at whatever bitrate it was captured at, often with some padding on top. At 8 Mbps an hour is about 3.6 GB, so 5 GB is reached in well under two hours. At 4 Mbps it is around 1.8 GB an hour.

Audio only, or the link

An audio-only export at 128 kbps holds two hours in about 115 MB, and VLC or any converter can make one. If the stream is still on YouTube, Twitch or Kick, pasting its link skips the file entirely. Large captures go from the upload page.

Four minutes for two hours

Processing runs at about 2 minutes per audio hour, so even a nine-hour capture is text in under twenty minutes. Stream replays over 6 hours pasted as Twitch, Kick or YouTube links start once a pack is on the account.

Captures elsewhere

Where a long TS capture usually goes wrong.

✗ Gigabytes of picture

Most of a TS file is video the transcript never needs, and that weight is what trips size caps and stalls uploads.

  • A size cap reached before hour two
  • TS missing from the accepted types
  • Hundreds of segments instead of one file
  • Sound drifting after a rough join
  • The whole video re-encoded just to fit
  • A separate transcript for each segment

✓ Speech, not stream

Send the sound or the link, and the length of the talk is all that counts.

  • Audio-only copies of a few hundred MB
  • Links from YouTube, Twitch and Kick
  • One file up to 10 hours
  • About 2 minutes per audio hour
  • One timeline across the capture
  • Exports ready for subtitles

Sample output

Late in a captured panel stream.

Illustrative excerpt, not a real broadcast. A long stream capture keeps the capture's own clock in the transcript.

FAQ

Long TS captures, answered.

How long does a two-hour TS capture take?

About four minutes after the upload, or after the audio copy uploads. With a multi-gigabyte TS the upload is most of the wait, which is why the audio copy is quicker overall.

What does a long capture cost?

Two hours is 120 minutes on the $6 pack (500 minutes), leaving 380. A nine-hour capture is 540 minutes and goes on the $12 pack (2,000 minutes) with 1,460 left.

My stream is saved as hundreds of small .ts segments. Can I upload them?

Join them into one file first, or better, export a single audio file from the joined capture. If the stream came from YouTube, Twitch or Kick, paste the replay link instead and nothing needs joining.

The capture is over 5 GB or longer than 10 hours. What now?

For size, send audio only, which turns hours of HD capture into a few hundred megabytes. For length, cut it into two files at a quiet moment, and each transcript counts its time from zero. A file above 2 GB begins once a pack is on the account.

Is music or crowd noise transcribed?

No. Music, sound effects and crowd noise are left out, and the speech over them is transcribed. Commentary comes through best when the voice was mixed above the background.

Which languages and exports, and where does it run?

99 languages are detected from the speech, and the exports include SRT and VTT for subtitles plus TXT, DOCX and JSON. Captures are transcribed on our own servers and are never used for training.
