Transcribe a recording made in a union hall motions, amendments and the count.
A union hall recording of a membership or delegate meeting, often 3 to 4 hours of motions and votes, comes back as text at about 2 minutes per audio hour, so 4 hours takes about 8 minutes. The first 20 minutes are free, and the $6 pack of 500 minutes transcribes the remaining time with 260 minutes left over.
What a union hall sounds like
A big room, rows of chairs, a floor microphone and a lot of people who want to be heard.
Rows of chairs and a raised table
Officers sit at a table at the front with a microphone or two, and members queue at a floor microphone. Applause, scraping chairs and the murmur during a count are not transcribed. Whatever was said at either microphone is.
Points of order, in order
Procedure produces many short exchanges: moved, seconded, a point of order, a ruling from the chair. Chapters break the meeting wherever the business changed, so the debate on each motion sits under its own heading with a timestamp.
A full year of meetings, priced
A 4-hour meeting uses 240 of the 500 minutes in a $6 pack. A local recording twelve 3-hour meetings a year needs 2,160 minutes, more than the $12 pack holds, so the $24 pack of 5,000 covers the year with room for a delegate conference.
The numbers people come back to
Dues figures, ballot counts, contract dates and the wording of a motion as it was read are what members argue about later. They land in the list of names, numbers and dates said, and the chat can answer what the amendment to motion three changed.
Why minutes get disputed
When a vote is close, the exact words matter.
✗ Minutes from the secretary's notes
A secretary writing while the chair rules on a point of order will miss something, and nobody can check it afterwards.
- A motion recorded in words nobody said
- Floor speakers listed only as 'a member'
- Hours of audio nobody has time to replay
- Upload caps that end an hour into the meeting
- No timestamp for the moment of the vote
- Text retyped by hand into a document
✓ The meeting as spoken
The recording goes in once, and the minutes are drafted from text you can search and quote.
- Four hours of business in about 8 minutes
- The first 20 minutes free
- Motions and votes as chapters
- Officers and floor speakers named in the summary, quotes and chapters
- Every figure and date said, listed
- DOCX to edit, SRT for the meeting video

FAQ
Union hall recordings, the practical questions.
How fast is a union meeting transcribed?
At about 2 minutes per hour of audio. A 4-hour membership meeting is usually ready in around 8 minutes, and an 8-hour delegate day in about 16.
What does a 4-hour meeting cost?
A 4-hour meeting comes to 240 minutes. A first-time visitor gets the first 20 minutes free, and the $6 pack of 500 minutes transcribes the rest from where the preview ended, with no subscription attached.
Can it tell the chair from the members?
Speakers are identified and named in the summary, key quotes and chapters, using the names said in the room. The transcript itself runs in order with timestamps, so a disputed remark can be found and replayed.
How big a file can I send?
You can send one file of up to 10 hours or 5 GB. Before the first pack, uploads up to 2 GB start right away, while a larger file, such as a long video from the hall camera, starts once a pack is on the account. A meeting that runs past 10 hours is sent as two files.
Our members speak several languages. Does that work?
Languages are detected automatically, 99 of them. A meeting is transcribed on its main language, and an interpreter who repeats a floor speech in English comes back as spoken.
Is the recording kept private, and what can I download?
Recordings are transcribed on our own servers and are never used for training. Download the transcript as TXT, DOCX, SRT, VTT or JSON, and delete the recording when you no longer need it.
