Why Spotify links fail
Audio played inside Spotify is protected, so it cannot be fetched from a Spotify link by Whipscribe or any other transcription tool. Rather than let you wait on a job that cannot finish, the upload box tells you straight away. Pasting a Spotify link will not work, whichever page it comes from.
The route that works
Most podcasts on Spotify are distributed through a public RSS feed, which is what Apple Podcasts and show websites use too.
Search the podcast's name on Apple Podcasts or the web. Most shows on Spotify are also listed on Apple Podcasts and on their own website.
On Apple Podcasts, open the episode itself and copy its link; an episode link transcribes that exact episode. On the show's website, look for the episode's download or MP3 link.
Paste the link into the box above. You get a transcript with speaker labels and word-level timestamps, saved in your searchable library.
Which link does what
More on podcasts: transcribe a podcast and podcast transcripts.
Transcribes that episode. Copy the link from the episode, not the show page: an episode link has ?i= followed by a number in the address.
Transcribes the newest episode in the feed. For an older episode, use its Apple Podcasts episode link or its MP3 link instead.
Show websites and feeds usually offer a download link for each episode. Paste that audio link, or download the file and upload it.
Some shows are only on Spotify and have no public feed, so they cannot be transcribed from Spotify. If it is your own show, upload the original audio file you published.
Pricing
After the free transcript, $8 buys 1,000 minutes, $12 buys 2,000 minutes and $24 buys 5,000 minutes, which works out to about $0.29 to $0.48 per audio hour. No monthly subscription, and credits never expire. See pricing for details.
A one-hour episode costs 48 cents on the $8 pack or about 29 cents on the $24 pack. A 3-hour interview episode can be your free summary.
