What it is
MMS (Massively Multilingual Speech) is Meta's research release covering more than 1,100 languages — including hundreds of African, indigenous American, and Pacific languages that no commercial vendor supports. Weights live on Hugging Face under facebook/mms-1b-all and related variants. License is research-leaning; production use requires reading the terms carefully but the linguistic coverage is otherwise unmatched.
