Transcribe dissertation interviews the whole set, with the cost worked out.
To transcribe dissertation interviews, paste the Google Drive folder that holds them or upload them one by one, and each interview comes back as its own transcript with a DOCX ready for your analysis software. Thirty interviews of 75 minutes are 2,250 minutes, which one $24 pack of 5,000 minutes covers.
For the fieldwork you already did
The interviews are done. The transcription should not take a term.
The cost for 20, 30 or 40
Twenty interviews of 90 minutes are 1,800 minutes, inside the $12 pack of 2,000 minutes. Thirty of 75 minutes come to 2,250 minutes and forty of 90 minutes to 3,600, and each of those fits one $24 pack of 5,000 minutes.
From folder to queue
Put the recordings in one Google Drive folder, share it, and paste the folder link. Every interview inside is queued. A single interview file above 500 MB can also go in from the upload page.
Ready to import for coding
Download each transcript as DOCX and import it into NVivo, ATLAS.ti or MAXQDA as a document, then code it there. TXT and JSON are there if your workflow uses them instead.
A first read of each interview
Every interview comes with a brief, chapters with timestamps and key quotes with the participant or interviewer named. It helps you decide which interviews to code first.
Why a full set is hard
One interview is an afternoon. Thirty is a semester you do not have.
✗ Transcribing the set yourself
Doing it by hand runs at several hours of typing per hour of audio, and a set of thirty long interviews turns into months.
- Type each interview yourself at four or more hours per audio hour
- Pay per audio minute to a service and watch the budget go
- Fix filenames and dates so transcripts match your participant list
- Convert formats before your analysis software will take them
- Lose a week when a recorder file is too large for a tool
- Start coding before half the set is ready
✓ The same set here
Every interview from the study is processed as a batch, priced as one pack, and exported in the format your software takes.
- All interviews from one shared Drive folder
- Each one transcribed in a few minutes
- A one-time pack sized to the whole study
- DOCX files ready to import as documents
- A brief and key quotes to plan the coding
- Recordings up to 5 GB per file

FAQ
Dissertation interview transcription, answered.
How long does a set of 30 interviews take to process?
Processing is about 2 minutes per hour of audio. Thirty interviews of 75 minutes are 37.5 hours of audio, about 75 minutes of processing in total once they are queued.
What will 20, 30 or 40 interviews cost?
Work it out in minutes. Up to 2,000 minutes, the $12 pack covers it, which is twenty interviews of 90 minutes. From 2,000 to 5,000 minutes, use the $24 pack of 5,000 minutes, which covers thirty interviews of 75 minutes or forty of 90.
Are there file size limits for interview recordings?
Every interview file may run to 5 GB and 10 hours. Until a pack is on the account, uploads stop at 2 GB. A folder pasted from Google Drive is read from Drive rather than uploaded.
Do I need to split long interviews or merge short ones?
Neither. Each recording becomes one transcript. Only an interview longer than 10 hours would need two files.
Some of my interviews are in another language. Will that work?
No. Each interview's language is detected on its own among 99 supported, so a study that mixes English and Spanish interviews goes in as one set.
How do the files get into NVivo, and what about participant privacy?
Export DOCX and import it into NVivo, ATLAS.ti or MAXQDA as a document; native coding formats are not produced. Recordings are transcribed on our own servers and are never used for training. Follow your ethics approval on where recordings may be stored.
