Transcribe a long Webex recording in one pass.
A Webex meeting, training or event that ran for hours can be transcribed from the one recording file. Download the MP4 from your Webex recordings list and upload it: one file goes up to 10 hours or 5 GB, and a four-hour session takes about eight minutes. Twenty minutes are free to start, and a $6 pack carries the transcript through to the final minute.

Hours of Webex, one document at the end.
Download the MP4
Webex cloud recordings are listed under Recordings in the Webex app or on your Webex site, with a download option on each. The MP4 is the file to bring here, and it uploads exactly as Webex produced it.
If you have an ARF file
Older Webex recordings were sometimes saved as ARF, a Webex-only format. Convert it to MP4 with Webex's own recording player first, then upload the MP4. Files above 500 MB continue on the upload page.
A four-hour training, eight minutes
Transcription moves at about 2 minutes per hour of audio, so even a full afternoon of training sessions is ready before the attendees have filed their feedback forms.
Navigate the long session
Chapters with timestamps break the hours into the parts people actually discussed. The brief carries the thesis and takeaways, and the names, numbers and dates said aloud are pulled into one list.
Long Webex sessions
A recording you have is not the same as a record you can use.
✗ The recording on its own
Webex keeps the video. Getting a sentence out of hour three still means playing hour three, and the people who need that sentence are usually the ones who could not attend.
- Hours of video and no way to search the speech
- An ARF file only one player can open
- Attendees asking what was said in the Q&A
- Slides without the explanation that went with them
- Retention rules that may remove the recording
- Manual minutes for a meeting half the room missed
✓ The recording as text
One MP4 becomes a searchable transcript with the session's structure laid out in chapters, so a colleague who missed the afternoon can read the part that concerns them in a few minutes.
- One upload for the whole session
- Q&A answers you can quote with a timestamp
- Chapters that follow the agenda as it was spoken
- The figures from the slides, as spoken, in one list
- Text you keep after the video expires
- Word and caption files from the same run

FAQ
Long Webex recordings, answered.
How do I download a Webex recording?
Open Recordings in the Webex app or on your Webex site, find the meeting, and use the download option to save the MP4. The host, or someone the host shared it with, can do this.
Can you transcribe an ARF file?
Upload the MP4 instead. An ARF file needs converting to MP4 first with Webex's recording player, and the MP4 then uploads normally.
How long does a 4-hour Webex recording take?
Roughly eight minutes. The rate is about 2 minutes per hour of audio, so a morning session of three hours finishes in about six, and the full four-hour block in about eight. Nothing needs to stay open while it works.
What does a 4-hour session cost?
Four hours is 240 minutes, which fits in the $6 pack (500 minutes) with room for another session of the same length. A full five-day course recorded at six hours a day is 1,800 minutes, which the $12 pack (2,000 minutes) covers. Packs are one-time, with no subscription.
What if the session ran longer than 10 hours?
The ceiling is 10 hours or 5 GB for each file. Most Webex hosts record each day or session separately anyway; if yours is a single longer file, split it into two and upload both, and each comes back with its own transcript.
Which languages and exports, and what about privacy?
The language of the session is detected automatically, from 99 languages, so a training delivered in Portuguese or a meeting that switches into German is handled without a setting. Save the result as TXT, DOCX, SRT, VTT or JSON. Recordings are transcribed on our own servers and are never used for training.
