Steps
- Agent mode: give it the task and the link. Ask ChatGPT agent to open whipscribe.com/paste, paste the recording's link and read back the summary. The preview and summary need no account; the site asks for an email address to send them to.
- Agent mode: take over for sign-in and payment. For the full transcript the agent opens whipscribe.com/credits?sku=mini-4. Expect ChatGPT to hand the browser back to you for sign-in and for the payment itself; WhipScribe expects the same.
- Custom GPT: import the API. In the GPT editor add an action and import the schema from this URL. It is OpenAPI 3.0 with 12 operations (submitUrl, getJob, getTranscript, getBalance and others).
https://whipscribe.com/openapi.json - Custom GPT: set the key. Authentication: API key, custom header name X-API-Key. Create the key at whipscribe.com/apis/keys (steps: whipscribe.com/agents/api-key).
- Ask. “Transcribe this link and give me the SRT.” The action submits the link, polls the job and fetches the result.
What is true today
- The public API description is at whipscribe.com/openapi.json and uses one API-key header (X-API-Key). There is no ready-made WhipScribe GPT; you build the action in your own.
- The API takes links and direct uploads; a custom GPT action sends links, not files from the chat.
- A WhipScribe app for the ChatGPT directory is on the way and is not listed yet, so there is nothing to install from the directory today. whipscribe.com/chatgpt says the same.
- ChatGPT cannot buy credit for you. It can take you to the pack link and wait.
What needs a person
- Creating the account: sign-in is Google, or an email address plus a 6-digit code sent to that inbox. An agent with no access to the inbox has to ask the person for the code.
- Paying: the checkout asks for a card or PayPal. The person enters those details or approves the payment; an agent should hand this step over, not type card numbers.
- Keeping the key: an API key is shown once, when it is created. Whoever creates it stores it; nobody can look it up later.
Cost
The summary of any recording is free to read on the website. Full transcripts and all API use come out of the account's credit: $4 = 500 min · $8 = 1,000 min · $12 = 2,000 min · $24 = 5,000 min. Credits never expire. Creating an API key needs the $24 pack or Workspace.
