Steps
- Open the keys page. Go to whipscribe.com/apis/keys and choose “Sign in & create a key”. It opens the workspace sign-in.
- Pick email sign-up. In the dialog choose “Sign up”, then enter the person's email address and a new password. “Continue with Google” opens Google's own sign-in window, which is the person's to complete, so an agent working alone uses email.
- Enter the 6-digit code. WhipScribe emails a 6-digit code to that address. It expires after 10 minutes, and the account exists only once the code is entered. Read it from the inbox if you have access; otherwise ask the person for it.
- Confirm you are signed in. The workspace opens with the email address in the sidebar and a credits line.
- Add credit, then create the key. Continue with whipscribe.com/agents/buy-credits and then whipscribe.com/agents/api-key.
What we checked
On 5 October 2026 we drove the sign-in dialog with an automated browser: the email and password fields are ordinary form fields, no CAPTCHA appeared, and signing in to an existing account with email and password went through without a person.
Email sign-up always sends the 6-digit code. That is deliberate: it proves the address belongs to the person the agent is acting for, and it is where the receipt and sign-in links go later.
Do you need an account at all?
To try WhipScribe in a browser, no: drop a file or paste a link on whipscribe.com/ and the preview and summary are free to read.
To buy a pack, no: checkout takes an email address for the receipt and the credit is held for that address.
To create an API key or connect an assistant, yes. Sign up with the same email address the credit was bought under and the balance is already there.
There is no sign-up API
Accounts are created in the browser. There is no endpoint that returns an account or a key from a bare HTTP call, so an agent that works only through curl needs the person (or a browser agent) to do this page once. After that everything is one header: X-API-Key.
