Answer

How do I make SRT subtitles from a YouTube video or my own video?

Paste the YouTube link or upload your own video file (MP4, MOV, WEBM and more, up to 5 GB) to WhipScribe, then export the transcript as SRT. VTT is there too. The language is detected automatically from 99+. The summary is free to read; a pack from $4 (500 minutes) opens the full transcript and its exports.

Two ways in

For a video on YouTube, paste its link. For a video on your computer or phone, upload the file directly, or import it from Google Drive.

Either way the result is the same: a timestamped transcript you can export.

SRT, VTT and the rest

SRT is the subtitle file most video editors and YouTube Studio accept. VTT is the web format used by HTML5 video players. WhipScribe also exports TXT, DOCX and JSON from the same transcript.

What it costs

The summary of any recording is free to read. A pack from $4 (500 minutes) opens the full transcript. Packs are $4 / 500 minutes, $8 / 1,000, $12 / 2,000 and $24 / 5,000, and credits never expire.

How to do it

  1. Paste the YouTube link, or upload your video file.
  2. Wait about 2 minutes per hour of audio.
  3. Open the full transcript with a pack.
  4. Export as SRT (or VTT) and add it to your video editor or YouTube Studio.
