Clean verbatim
Clean verbatim is a transcription style that preserves every meaningful word while removing filler sounds, false starts and stutters, producing text that reads naturally without changing what was said.
It is the default style most transcription tools aim for and what most readers expect: faithful but readable. When exact hesitations matter — depositions, linguistic research — full verbatim is the right choice instead.
