Verbatim transcription

Verbatim transcription captures speech exactly as uttered — including false starts, repetitions, filler words like 'um' and 'uh', and non-speech sounds — as opposed to clean-read styles that edit them out.

True verbatim is required in legal and qualitative-research contexts where hesitations carry meaning. Most business users actually want 'clean verbatim': every word kept, but stumbles and fillers removed for readability.
