What the $4 buys

One pack, one interview, and most of the minutes still there afterwards.

The price, worked out

Packs start at $4 for 300 minutes. There is no per-file fee, no extra charge for a second voice, no surcharge for a strong accent and no subscription. Credits never expire, so the remaining minutes wait for the next conversation.

Free first, then pay

Upload the interview and the opening minutes come back free, so you can judge how the voices and the vocabulary come out. If it reads well, a pack transcribes the rest from where the preview stopped, and the whole interview is ready a few minutes later on the upload page.

Built for quoting

The interviewer and the guest are identified and named in the summary, key quotes and chapters. The brief lists the questions the interview answers and the names, dates and figures that came up. Every passage keeps its timestamp, so a quote in an article or thesis can be checked against the audio in seconds.

A whole interview project

Fifteen two-hour interviews for a thesis or a book come to 1,800 minutes, which fits the $18 pack of 3,000 minutes. A larger study of forty interviews, 4,800 minutes, goes on the $32 pack of 6,000.

Two hours of interview, two ways

A day of your own typing, or $4 and four minutes.

✗ Doing it yourself

Two hours of conversation, typed by hand, is a long day of pausing, rewinding and checking spellings.

  • Roughly a working day per interview
  • Overlapping voices hard to untangle
  • Timestamps added by hand
  • Quotes copied with small errors
  • No overview of the conversation
  • The next interview already waiting

✓ Sending it here

The full conversation as timestamped text, with the structure an interviewer needs.

  • $4 on the smallest pack
  • About 4 minutes of processing
  • Interviewer and guest named in the summary
  • Key quotes with timestamps
  • The questions the interview answers, listed
  • DOCX for the write-up

01:56:08 That is probably the most honest answer I have given anyone about it.

FAQ

Two-hour interviews, the cost questions.

How much does it cost to transcribe a 2-hour interview?

$4. The 120 minutes fit the $4 pack of 300 minutes, and at least 180 minutes remain afterwards for more interviews.

Is there a free option?

The opening minutes of your first recording are free. An interview shorter than that comes back complete. Packs start at $4 for 300 minutes, and credits never expire.

Does a second speaker or a poor phone line cost more?

No. The price depends only on the minutes. Speakers are identified and named in the summary, key quotes and chapters at no extra charge. A clear recording, close to the microphone, gives the best text.

The interview was recorded in two parts. Is that more expensive?

No. Two one-hour files use the same 120 minutes as one two-hour file. Send them separately, or join them first if you want a single transcript and timeline. Packs start at $4 for 300 minutes, and credits never expire.

Can I paste a link instead of uploading?

Yes, if the interview is on YouTube, Vimeo, Google Drive or a podcast feed. A Zoom or phone recording is uploaded as a file; a two-hour M4A is usually around 115 MB.

Which exports come with it, and who hears the recording?

TXT, DOCX, SRT, VTT and JSON are included. Interviews are transcribed on our own servers and never used for model training.
