75-min webinar · about 2.5 min · first 20 min free

How do you turn a webinar into an article? Write from the transcript, not the slide deck.

Transcribe the webinar recording and write from the result: a file can be up to 10 hours or 5 GB (2 GB before your first pack), and a 75-minute session is ready in about 2.5 minutes, at about 2 minutes per audio hour, with the thesis, takeaways, chapters and the questions the audience asked. The first 20 minutes are free, and the $6 pack of 500 minutes covers six 75-minute webinars with 50 minutes left.

Session to story

What a webinar gives an article that the slides never will.

Get the recording out

Webinar platforms usually let the host download the recording as an MP4, sometimes with a separate audio file; the menu differs by platform and plan. If the replay is on YouTube or Vimeo, paste the link instead. The upload box here takes files up to 500 MB, and a larger MP4 carries on at the upload page.

The spine of the article

Slides list topics; the presenter explains them. The brief turns that explanation into a thesis and a short list of takeaways, which is the headline, the standfirst and the outline. Chapters with timestamps show how long each section ran, a fair guide to how much space it deserves.

The Q&A is the best part

Audience questions are what readers search for. The questions the recording answers are listed, so the last fifteen minutes of a webinar become an FAQ block or a closing section. Ask the chat for the exact answer to any one of them.

Keep the presenter's voice

Key quotes give you the lines worth quoting directly, and speakers are named in the summary, key quotes and chapters. Send the draft to the presenter before publishing; a sentence that worked live can read differently in print.

Article from the slides

What gets lost when the deck is the source.

✗ Written from the deck

The slides go to marketing, and the article reads like a list of bullet points.

  • The explanation behind each slide missing
  • Audience questions forgotten
  • Rewatching 75 minutes to check a claim
  • Numbers copied from an old slide version
  • An MP4 too big for the free tool
  • The article published a month late

✓ Written from the transcript

What was said, including the live Q&A, is on the page within minutes.

  • About 2.5 minutes for 75 minutes
  • Thesis and takeaways as the outline
  • Chapters sized to each section
  • Questions listed for an FAQ block
  • Figures checked by timestamp
  • A draft the same week as the webinar

FAQ

Webinars into articles, answered.

Will text on the slides appear in the transcript?

Only what the presenter says aloud. The transcript is the speech; a chart that was shown but not described will not be in it, so keep the deck open while you write.

What does a monthly webinar series cost?

Twelve 75-minute webinars are 900 minutes, which the $12 pack of 2,000 minutes covers with 1,100 left. Packs are one-time purchases and credits never expire, so a quiet quarter costs nothing.

Our virtual summit ran all day. Can it go as one file?

Yes, if it is under 10 hours and 5 GB. Seven hours is 420 minutes and takes about 14 minutes; the $6 pack of 500 minutes covers it with 80 to spare. A full-day video above 2 GB uploads once a pack is on the account.

Can I turn one webinar into several articles?

Often, yes. Each chapter can be its own short piece, and the Q&A can be a third. The chat helps find every place a topic came up across the session.

Do attendees need to agree to the recording?

Recording a session needs whatever consent the law where you are requires, and most platforms announce the recording to attendees. Quoting an audience member by name in an article is worth asking about first.

Where do the recordings go?

Recordings are transcribed on our own servers and are never used for training. No bot joins the webinar; this works on the recording afterwards, and you can delete it at any time.
