Transcribe a 2-hour board meeting and draft the minutes from what was said.
A 2-hour board meeting is 120 minutes of audio, and it comes back as timestamped text in about 4 minutes, so the secretary drafts minutes from the record rather than from memory. The first 20 minutes are free, and the $6 pack of 500 minutes transcribes the rest with 380 minutes left.
From boardroom audio to draft minutes
The motion, the seconder and the vote, each with a timestamp.
How board meetings are recorded
Most boards record on a conference speakerphone, a room recorder in the middle of the table, or the video call when directors join remotely. The file is usually an MP3, M4A or MP4. Any of them uploads as it is, and directors speaking far from the microphone are the passages to read twice.
120 minutes, worked out
About 2 minutes of processing per audio hour puts a two-hour meeting at roughly 4 minutes. It uses 120 of the 500 minutes on the $6 pack, leaving 380. A board that meets monthly for two hours uses 1,440 minutes a year, which the $12 pack of 2,000 covers with 560 to spare.
Resolutions in one list
The brief pulls out what was decided, the figures that were approved and the dates set for the next steps. The directors who moved and seconded are named in the summary and key quotes, so the secretary checks each resolution against the minute it was said instead of a margin note.
Every agenda item as a chapter
Reports, finance, the main item and any other business each become a chapter with a start time. If a director later asks how a figure was explained, the chat finds the passage. Large room recordings over the box limit go on upload page.
Why board minutes run late
Two hours of discussion, condensed by hand, is a weekend gone.
✗ Minutes from notes
The secretary takes notes while also following the debate, and fills the gaps afterwards from the audio.
- Handwritten notes with half a motion
- Re-listening to check who seconded
- Figures misheard in a cross-table exchange
- Two hours of audio for one disputed point
- Minutes sent a week late
- No record of how a decision was argued
✓ Board minutes from the transcript
The meeting becomes a document the secretary can check every line of the minutes against.
- Two hours of debate, about 4 minutes to text
- The meeting's first 20 minutes free
- 380 of 500 minutes still unused
- Motions and votes listed in the brief
- Each board agenda item as a timestamped chapter
- DOCX ready for the minute template

FAQ
Two-hour board meetings, the common questions.
How long does a two-hour board meeting take to transcribe?
About 4 minutes. Speed is roughly 2 minutes per audio hour; our proof page lists 2.48 hours finished in 200 seconds.
What will a year of board meetings cost?
One 120-minute meeting uses part of the $6 pack of 500 minutes and leaves 380. Twelve monthly meetings, 1,440 minutes, sit on the $12 pack of 2,000 with 560 left over. If your meetings run nearer 100 minutes, the length we see most often among paying uploads, the $6 pack covers five of them exactly with nothing left over.
How big is the recording?
A room recorder at 128 kbps makes about 58 MB an hour (128 kilobits times 3,600 seconds), so two hours is about 115 MB. A video call recording is larger. Up to 2 GB uploads before you buy a pack, up to 5 GB after.
Can I use the transcript as the official minutes?
Treat it as the source for the draft. Minutes are usually a summary approved by the board, and the transcript gives the secretary the exact words and times to write that summary from. Check names and figures before circulating.
Some directors speak another language. Will that work?
Automatic detection covers 99 languages, and the board recording is read on its main language. English with Tagalog in one recording is handled; for other mixes, check the passages in the second language.
Which exports are there, and is it confidential?
Board recordings export as TXT, DOCX, SRT, VTT and JSON. Recordings are transcribed on our own servers and are never used for training. The board can delete the file and its transcript at any point.
