Transcribe a 3-hour town hall and hold everyone to what they said.

A 3-hour town hall comes back as text in about 6 minutes, with each question from the floor and its answer as a chapter. The livestream replay link needs no upload, a downloaded video of that length can run 1.5 to 4 GB, and the $6 pack of 500 minutes covers the meeting with 340 minutes left after the free first 20 minutes.

Three hours of open questions

When the line at the microphone runs long, the record should not.

Questions as chapters

Long town halls get long because of the questions. Each person at the microphone gets a chapter with a start time, a heading for the topic and the answer from the front, so the forty-third question is as easy to find as the first.

What was promised

The brief lists commitments, dates, budget figures and place names with the minute each was said. Panel members are named in the summary, the key quotes and the chapters, and the chat over the transcript answers questions such as what was said about the library hours.

From the stream to the text

A town hall streamed to YouTube, including a live replay, can be pasted as a link. One streamed on another platform should be downloaded and uploaded here or on upload page. Recordings longer than 6 hours from a stream start once a pack is on the account; a 3-hour one starts straight away.

A record residents can read

Post the DOCX alongside the replay, add SRT captions to the video, and pull quotes from the brief for the newsletter. Applause, crowd noise and music before the start are not transcribed. For an organiser, the list of questions the meeting answered is a ready outline for the follow-up letter.

Why long town halls disappear

Three hours of video is a record in name only.

✗ The replay alone

The video goes up, and the follow-up is a few lines of notes.

  • Late questions left out of the notes
  • Commitments with no record of when they were made
  • Captions with no names or punctuation
  • A video too large to share by email
  • Free tools cut off after the first hour
  • Residents asking the same questions again

✓ The town hall as text

Every question and answer becomes searchable within minutes.

  • The whole meeting as text in about 6 minutes
  • A chapter for each question
  • Commitments listed with timestamps
  • Panel named in the summary
  • Captions for the posted replay
  • 320 of 500 minutes still on the $6 pack

FAQ

3-hour town halls, the common questions.

How long does a 3-hour town hall take?

Roughly 6 minutes, as each audio hour takes about 2. From a livestream link there is nothing to upload first.

What does a series of town halls cost?

One 3-hour town hall uses 180 of the 500 minutes on the $6 pack, and two fit with 140 to spare. A campaign of six is 1,080 minutes, which the $12 pack of 2,000 minutes covers with 920 left. Credits never expire.

The downloaded video is 3 GB. Will it work?

It will once a pack is on the account, since files can then be up to 5 GB. Before a pack the limit is 2 GB, so paste the replay link instead, or save just the audio, which is about 175 MB.

Questions from the floor were hard to hear. What comes through?

Speech the microphone picked up is transcribed, and a question asked without a microphone may have gaps. Jump to its timestamp to listen again.

The meeting ran longer than 10 hours across a day. Can it be one file?

One file can be up to 10 hours, so a longer continuous recording goes in as two files.

Who else can see the recording?

Recordings are transcribed on our own servers and are never used for training, and you can delete them at any time.
