Transcribe a 4-hour strategy offsite so the decisions outlive the whiteboard.
A 4-hour strategy offsite is 240 minutes of audio, and it comes back as text in about 8 minutes at roughly 2 minutes per audio hour. The first 20 minutes are free, and a $6 pack of 500 minutes covers the whole session with at least 260 minutes left over.
From the room to the memo
A strategy session produces a handful of decisions buried in four hours of debate. The text digs them out.
Eight minutes after the last session
Leadership offsites tend to run as a morning block of about four hours: a market review, a debate on priorities, a budget conversation and a wrap-up. Processing runs at about 2 minutes per audio hour, so the recording is text in roughly 8 minutes, before the group has left for lunch.
Who agreed to what, and by when
The brief lists the names, numbers and dates said in the room, so the target for next year, the headcount figure and the date of the next review are already written down. Speakers are named in the summary, key quotes and chapters, which shows who proposed an idea and who took it on.
A phone in the middle of the table
Most offsites are recorded on a phone or a single conference microphone. iPhone Voice Memos saves M4A, and even at 256 kbps four hours is about 460 MB, comfortably inside the 2 GB that uploads before the first pack. People far from the microphone come out quieter, so put it near the centre.
Ask the offsite a question
The chat over the transcript answers questions such as what was said about the second market or which risks the finance lead raised. It works from the four-hour text, so a director who missed the afternoon can catch up without listening to the recording.
Why offsite notes go missing
Whoever takes notes stops contributing, and the memo is written a week later.
✗ A note-taker and a whiteboard photo
The strategy is debated for four hours and then reconstructed from bullet points and a blurry photo.
- A senior person stuck as the scribe
- Decisions without owners or dates
- The reasons behind a choice forgotten
- Whiteboard photos nobody can read
- A memo that arrives a week later
- Debate on a topic reopened next quarter
✓ The whole session on paper
The room talks freely, and the recording becomes a transcript with the decisions already listed.
- Roughly 8 minutes to process the morning
- First 20 minutes free
- Each decision with its owner and date
- Chapters matching the agenda blocks
- Quotes to put in the strategy memo
- DOCX to share, JSON to keep

FAQ
Four-hour strategy offsites, answered.
How long does a 4-hour offsite take to transcribe?
About 8 minutes. The rate is roughly 2 minutes per hour of audio, and a 4.94-hour recording on the public proof page finished in 372 seconds.
What does a four-hour offsite cost on a pack?
It is 240 minutes. The first 20 are free for a first-time visitor, and a $6 pack of 500 minutes covers the rest with at least 260 left. Two full offsite days of about eight hours each, 960 minutes, fit the $12 pack of 2,000 minutes.
We recorded on a laptop with video. Will that upload?
Very likely. Files up to 2 GB upload before the first pack, and up to 5 GB after one. A four-hour video can pass 2 GB, in which case it starts once a pack is on the account. Above 5 GB, export the audio track and upload that instead.
Should I split the morning and afternoon?
Only if they are separate recordings already. One file can be up to 10 hours or 5 GB, whichever comes first, so a four-hour session goes up whole. Uploading each block separately is fine too, and each one gets its own brief.
Does it work when people talk over each other?
Crosstalk is the hardest part of any room recording, and overlapping sentences may come back partly merged. The summary, key quotes and chapters still name who spoke. A microphone near the centre of the table helps more than anything else. 99 languages are detected automatically if the group switches language.
Is a confidential strategy discussion safe to upload?
Recordings are transcribed on our own servers and are never used for training, and the recording and transcript can be removed whenever you choose. The memo can leave as a DOCX or TXT file can be shared without sharing the audio.
