A long-form episode

Five hours of conversation, ready to quote, chapter and publish.

MP3 yes, WAV master maybe

Five hours of 16-bit stereo WAV at 44.1 kHz comes to about 3.2 GB, well inside the 5 GB a file can be, so it uploads with or without a pack. Upload the published MP3 instead, which is a few hundred megabytes, or buy a pack first, which lifts the limit to 5 GB. If the episode is already out, paste the RSS feed and pick it.

Ten minutes per episode

Processing runs at roughly 2 minutes per hour of audio, so a 300-minute episode is usually back in about 10. Our public run did 9.31 hours in 1,033 seconds, with the details at /proof/long-files.

Show notes without relistening

Chapters with timestamps drop straight into your episode description. The brief gives the main thread of the conversation and the takeaways, lists every book, person, figure and date that came up, and the chat finds the exact moment your guest told the story listeners keep asking about.

A season and a back catalogue

Packs start at $4 for 300 minutes, and credits never expire. Four such episodes a month is 1,200 minutes, inside the $18 pack of 3,000 minutes.

Why long episodes stay unsearchable

Five hours of great talk that no search engine can read.

✗ Audio only

Listeners cannot search it, you cannot quote it without relistening, and clips take hours to find.

  • Relistening to find one quote
  • Show notes written from memory
  • A 3 GB master that will not upload
  • Tools that stop at an hour
  • Splitting episodes into parts
  • No text for the episode page

✓ Episode as text

The full episode goes in once and comes back ready for the page, the notes and the clips.

  • About 10 minutes for 300 minutes
  • RSS feed or file, your choice
  • Chapters for the description
  • Host and guests named in the chapters
  • SRT and VTT for the video version
  • Most of a second episode still covered

FAQ

A 5-hour podcast, the common questions.

How long does a 5-hour podcast take to transcribe?

Ten minutes or so after upload; the pace is about two minutes per hour of audio. Close the tab if you like; the transcript waits in your Library.

What does a 300-minute episode cost?

Packs start at $4 for 300 minutes. If it is your first upload, the opening minutes are a free preview, and the pack picks the episode up where the preview stopped. Packs are one-time, and the minutes never expire.

Can I paste my podcast's RSS feed?

Yes. Paste the RSS feed or a podcast page link and choose the episode. A YouTube link to the video version works too, as does a Google Drive share link to the raw files.

Should I upload the MP3 or the WAV master?

The MP3 is plenty for transcription and uploads before a pack. A five-hour WAV master is over 2 GB but under 5 GB, so it uploads as it is, with or without a pack.

Does it name the host and guests?

Yes, in the summary, the key quotes and the chapters. With three or more voices, it helps when people introduce themselves near the start.

What formats can I export?

TXT, DOCX, SRT, VTT and JSON, all from one pass; 99 languages are detected automatically. Recordings are transcribed on our own servers and are never used for training.
