What a webinar recording turns into

The hour you sat through becomes a page you can reread in five minutes.

Notes worth filing

The brief states the presenter's main argument and the takeaways, and the chapters mark where each section starts. Whether those notes count toward your hours is a question for your own regulator or association; what they give you is a record of what was taught.

From the replay link or the file

Many webinar hosts send a replay link after the session. A YouTube or Vimeo replay can be pasted straight in; a recording you can download from the host, usually an MP4, goes in as a file on the upload page.

Questions from the audience

The last half hour of a webinar is often the most practical part. The transcript keeps the Q&A with the talk, and the chat over the transcript finds the answer to a question you half remember.

A year of sessions, priced once

Ten webinars of 90 minutes make 900 minutes, which fits on the $12 pack of 2,000 minutes. Credits never expire, so the rest waits for next year's sessions.

Why CPD recordings sit unwatched

You registered for the replay. Rewatching three hours to find one slide is another matter.

✗ A folder of replays

The recordings are saved, but the useful twenty minutes are buried inside each one.

  • Replays that expire on the host's site
  • Notes typed while the presenter kept talking
  • Nothing searchable across a year of sessions
  • An app that gives up at the 60-minute mark
  • The Q&A left out of anyone's notes
  • Hours of replay before a renewal deadline

✓ A learning file you can read

Each webinar becomes text with a brief, chapters and the figures the presenter quoted.

  • Roughly 6 minutes for 3 hours of audio
  • Presenter named in the summary and chapters
  • Sections of the talk you can jump to
  • Rules, dates and numbers listed
  • One pack for a year of webinars
  • TXT or DOCX for your own records

Sample

A professional webinar, as it comes back.

This sample is illustrative and was written for this page; it is not from any real webinar or association. The clock on each line counts from the first second of a two-hour replay.

00:03:40 Today we'll cover three changes to the reporting standard and walk through two worked examples.
00:52:18 The common mistake here is treating the transition date as the reporting date. They are not the same.
01:31:02 We have a question in the chat: does the change apply to engagements already under way?
01:31:20 Good question. The short answer is that it depends on when the engagement letter was signed.

FAQ

What professionals ask about transcribing CPD replays.

How soon can I read a two-hour CPD replay?

Plan on about 4 minutes, while a 3-hour session needs about 6. A public run on our proof page took 2.48 hours of audio through in 200 seconds.

What does a year of webinars cost?

Twelve 90-minute webinars are 1,080 minutes, inside the $12 pack of 2,000 minutes. Four 2-hour sessions, 480 minutes, fit on the $6 pack of 500 minutes. Prices are in US dollars, and a first-time visitor has the first 20 minutes free.

Does a transcript count as CPD hours?

That depends on your regulator or professional body, and we make no claim about it. The transcript is a record of what the session covered, useful for your own notes and for checking a point later.

Is there a cap on the size of a webinar file?

A file can run to 10 hours or 5 GB, whichever comes first. Before the first pack, uploads can be up to 2 GB; a 3-hour webinar video usually sits well under that. If the upload refuses the file, convert it to MP3 first.

Can I upload a webinar in French?

Yes. French and English are both detected automatically among 99 languages, and a bilingual session is transcribed on its main language with the switches handled.

What formats come out, and who can see the replay?

TXT, DOCX, SRT, VTT and JSON. Recordings are transcribed on our own servers and are never used for training. Check the host's terms before you download a replay you were given access to.
