Multi-day hearings · a file per day · English or French

Transcribe CRTC hearing recordings day by day, appearance by appearance.

A 7-hour CRTC hearing day is transcribed in about 14 minutes, and a three-day hearing of 7-hour days, 1,260 minutes, fits the $12 pack of 2,000. English or French is detected automatically, and each day comes back with chapters for every appearance and the commissioners' questions under timestamps.

For intervenors, analysts and reporters

Days of testimony, searchable before the next day starts.

Appearances in chapters

A public hearing day is a run of appearances: a presentation, then questions from the panel, then the next party. Chapters with timestamps mark each one, so a policy team can go straight to another party's appearance and the questions it drew. Breaks and recesses leave a gap in the timestamps rather than text.

The panel's questions

What commissioners ask often shows where a decision may go. The brief lists the questions the recording answers, and the chat can find every exchange on one subject across a long day. Run the same question on each day of the hearing and the answers line up.

Link or file

If a hearing day is on YouTube or Vimeo, paste that link and nothing has to be downloaded. If the video plays only in another player, download the recording where that is offered and drop it on the upload page.

Your copy, not the record

Where an official transcript of the hearing is published, that is the record. This gives you an AI working copy with timestamps on the day itself, for notes, briefings and replies, and it is not a certified or official transcript. Quote the official version in any filing.

Following a long hearing

Nobody watches four days of hearings live. Someone still has to know what was said.

✗ Following by stream

Analysts watch in shifts and write notes of uneven depth.

  • Days of video to scrub
  • Notes that differ between shifts
  • Commissioners' questions half captured
  • French exchanges summarised in English notes
  • No search across days
  • Briefings written from memory

✓ Following by text

Each day becomes a document you can search, quote and brief from.

  • About 14 minutes per 7-hour day
  • Each appearance in a chapter
  • The panel's questions gathered in the brief
  • Commissioners and parties named in the summary
  • English or French detected
  • Three days for $12

An appearance, as it comes back.

This sample is illustrative and written for this page; the proceeding, the party and the questions are invented and do not reproduce any real hearing.

FAQ

CRTC hearings, the common questions.

How long does one hearing day take to transcribe?

About 14 minutes for a 7-hour day, at close to 2 minutes per audio hour; a short 4-hour day takes about 8. The text for Monday is ready long before Tuesday's first appearance.

What does a whole hearing cost?

Three 7-hour days are 1,260 minutes, inside the $12 pack of 2,000. A five-day hearing of 7-hour days is 2,100 minutes, past 2,000, so it belongs on the $24 pack of 5,000. A single day of 420 minutes fits the $6 pack of 500.

Can I try one day first?

Yes. A first-time visitor gets the first 20 minutes free, which shows the opening appearances; a pack continues from where the preview ended.

The hearing ran all day. Do I split it?

One file may be up to 10 hours or 5 GB, so one file per day works. Before the first pack, uploads are limited to 2 GB, and live replays over 6 hours start once a pack is on the account.

Does it handle both official languages?

English and French are both detected automatically among 99 languages. A day that switches between them is detected on its main language, and the switches are handled.

What can an intervenor download, and is the recording private?

DOCX and TXT for briefing notes, SRT and VTT to caption the video, JSON for analysis, each with the brief and chapters. Recordings are transcribed on our own servers and are never used for training.
