Built for the length of a sitting

A day in the chamber, or a two-hour committee, as text you can search.

The link is enough

When the sitting or committee is published on YouTube, including a live stream once its replay is posted, paste the address and the audio is fetched for you. Nothing has to be saved to your laptop first, which matters when the video runs to several gigabytes.

Committees, one at a time

Committee meetings are often around two hours and full of witness testimony. Upload each as its own file and each gets its own chapters, its own list of the figures that were cited, and its own brief of what the witnesses argued.

Eight hours, sixteen minutes

At about 2 minutes per hour of audio, a long sitting is text before a staffer has finished the day’s other briefings. The public proof page shows a run of 9.31 hours that finished in 1,033 seconds.

Not the official record

This is an AI transcript with timestamps for following debate and preparing notes. It is not a certified transcript, not a substitute for the chamber’s own published record, and not legal advice. upload page

The trouble with watching it back

A sitting is longer than most tools will take, and slower than staff can wait.

✗ Waiting or rewatching

Staff tracking a bill often rewatch hours of video to find two minutes of debate.

  • A published record that arrives after you needed it
  • Rewatching question period to catch one answer
  • Auto-captions with no paragraphs or punctuation
  • Upload limits far below a full sitting
  • Separate downloads for each committee video
  • No list of the figures and dates members cited

✓ The sitting as text

Paste the link once and search the day for the bill number, the member or the figure.

  • A stream link instead of a download
  • Up to 10 hours and 5 GB per file
  • Chapters for each debate and each witness
  • Members named in the summary and key quotes
  • A chat that answers what the minister said about timelines
  • Captions as SRT or VTT for the clip you share

00:41:08 Thank you. We have about six minutes left in this round. Please go ahead.
00:41:15 To the witness: your brief says the program reached about forty percent of eligible households. What happened with the rest?
00:41:39 Mostly they never applied. The form asked for documents that many people in rural areas could not get within the thirty-day window.
00:42:20 So if the window were ninety days, you would expect uptake to rise. Do you have a number for that?
00:42:41 Our estimate is between sixty and sixty-five percent, but I would want to table the method before you rely on it.

FAQ

Sittings and committees, the common questions.

How long does an 8-hour sitting take to transcribe?

About 16 minutes at roughly 2 minutes per hour of audio. A two-hour committee meeting usually finishes in about 4.

What does it cost to follow a week of committees?

Ten committee meetings of two hours each come to 1,200 minutes. That is more than the $6 pack covers, so the $12 pack of 2,000 minutes is the one to buy, with about 13 hours left after the week. Prices are in US dollars and there is no subscription.

Can I paste the live stream link while it is still live?

Paste the link once the sitting has ended and the replay is published. Stream recordings over 6 hours start once a pack is on the account, and the first 20 minutes are free for a first-time visitor.

A sitting ran longer than 10 hours. How do I handle it?

Use two files, because one file holds at most 10 hours. Cut at a suspension or the dinner break, upload both, and each returns with its own timestamps. Files can also be up to 5 GB each, or 2 GB before the first pack.

Debate switches between English and French. How is that transcribed?

A recording is detected on its main language, out of 99 supported. Where the broadcast offers separate English, French or floor audio, transcribing the channel you need gives the cleanest text. On a mixed floor channel, read the passages in the second language against the video.

Which formats come out of a sitting, and is the audio kept private?

Every sitting exports to TXT, DOCX, SRT, VTT and JSON. Recordings are transcribed on our own servers and are never used for training, and you can delete the transcript and audio at any time.
