Transcribe an English lecture recorded in Japan and study from the page instead of the replay.
An English-taught lecture recorded in Japan, usually one 90- or 100-minute class period, is transcribed at about 2 minutes per hour of audio, so a 90-minute lecture is text in roughly 3 minutes. Packs start at $4 for 300 minutes, and credits never expire.
For students, TAs and lecturers
English-medium courses in Japan fill with students for whom English is a second language. Text lets everyone keep up.
Record with permission
Ask the lecturer before recording, and keep the text for your own study or the course's materials. A phone voice memo from the third row works as well as the lecture-capture file.
The class in chapters
Chapters follow the lecture's topics, the brief sums up the argument, and the definitions spoken aloud sit in the text with their timestamps.
Ask about any part again
A chat over the transcript explains a passage again, lists the examples the lecturer gave, or finds where a reading was mentioned, with a link to the moment.
Small files, quick uploads
A voice memo at 64 kbps is about 28.8 MB per hour (8 KB a second times 3,600 seconds), so a 90-minute class is near 43 MB. Lecture-capture videos over 500 MB continue on the upload page.
Why lecture recordings go unwatched
Ninety minutes of English at lecture speed is hard to replay the night before an exam.
✗ Studying from the recording
Students record every class and replay almost none of them. Finding one explanation means scrubbing through the video, and international students working in their third language fall behind fastest.
- Replaying a whole class for one definition
- Notes that miss what was said while writing
- No captions on the lecture-capture video
- Upload limits too short for a full class
- No index of topics across the semester
- A monthly subscription for one term
✓ Studying from the text
Every lecture comes back as English text with chapters a few minutes after upload, ready to search and highlight.
- About 3 minutes per 90-minute class
- English recognised without a setting
- Lecturer and guest speakers named in the summary
- Key terms listed where they were explained
- Chat to revisit any topic
- DOCX to print, SRT to caption

FAQ
English lectures in Japan, answered.
How long does a 90-minute lecture take?
Roughly 3 minutes. A 100-minute class period takes a little over 3, and a three-hour seminar about 6, at roughly 2 minutes per hour of audio.
What will a semester of lectures cost?
Fifteen 90-minute lectures are 1,350 minutes on the $18 pack of 3,000. Two courses, 2,700 minutes, fit the $18 pack of 3,000 minutes. Packs start at $4 for 300 minutes. Prices are in US dollars, packs are one-time, and credits never expire.
The lecturer sometimes explains in Japanese. Is that a problem?
The recording is detected on its main language, English for an English-taught course, and you never choose a language; 99 are detected automatically. Short Japanese explanations or terms stay in the same transcript. A class taught mainly in Japanese is detected as Japanese.
Will a lecture-capture video upload?
One file can run up to 10 hours or 5 GB. Uploads go up to 5 GB per file, which covers almost every class recording. If the lecture is on YouTube or in a Google Drive folder, paste the link instead.
I record a whole day of classes. Do I split it?
Only past 10 hours. A day of four 90-minute classes recorded as one six-hour file is fine, though separate files give each class its own chapters and brief.
Who can see my lecture recordings?
Lecture recordings are transcribed on our own servers and are never used for training. You download TXT, DOCX, SRT, VTT or JSON, and the files stay yours.
