Transcribe long interviews in Australia every quote, to the second.
Long interviews for journalism, oral history and HR in Australia usually run one to three hours, and a 2-hour recording comes back here as text in about 4 minutes, with the key quotes timestamped. The first 20 minutes are free, and a $6 pack of 500 minutes covers four 2-hour interviews.
What a long interview gives you
The full conversation as text, with the lines worth quoting already found.
For the reporter on deadline
Upload the recorder file on upload page as soon as you are back at your desk. Key quotes come back with timestamps and the person who said them, so you can check a line against the audio before it runs.
For oral history
Life-story interviews often run across several hours in one sitting. A single file up to 10 hours keeps the whole session together, and the names, places and dates mentioned are listed for the catalogue record.
For HR interviews
Investigation and exit interviews need an accurate record of what was said. Recordings are transcribed on our own servers and are never used for training, and each file can be deleted as soon as the record is complete.
Fact-checking made shorter
Every name, figure and date said aloud is pulled into a list beside the transcript. Check spellings and numbers against that list instead of listening through two hours again.
Why long interviews are hard to transcribe
An hour of conversation takes four to six hours to type.
✗ Typing from the recorder
The interview is done, but the transcript holds up the story or the catalogue.
- Hours of typing per interview
- Phone apps that cap recordings at an hour
- Quotes checked by scrubbing audio
- Place names spelt three ways
- Older voices and accents misheard
- Sensitive interviews sent to unknown services
✓ Uploading the interview
The whole conversation returns as one searchable document.
- Roughly 4 minutes for two hours of talk
- Sittings up to 10 hours or 5 GB
- Timestamped quotes
- Interviewee named in summary and quotes
- Names and dates listed
- Handled on our own servers

FAQ
Long interview recordings, the common questions.
How long does a 2-hour interview take?
Four minutes, give or take. A 3-hour oral history session takes about 6, and the proof page shows a 2.48-hour recording finished in 200 seconds.
What does a set of long interviews cost?
Four 2-hour interviews is 480 minutes and fits on the $6 pack of 500 minutes. An oral history project of twenty 2-hour sessions is 2,400 minutes, just over the $12 pack, so the $24 pack of 5,000 minutes is the one to buy. Pricing is in US dollars.
Can the interview be longer than a few hours?
Yes. The ceiling per file is 10 hours or 5 GB, and the first one reached applies. Before your first pack, uploads go up to 2 GB.
How are interviewer and interviewee shown?
Both are identified and named in the summary, the key quotes and the chapters. The full transcript keeps every word with timestamps.
What languages can the interview be in?
99 languages are detected automatically, so an interview in Mandarin, Vietnamese, Greek or Italian needs no setting. An interview that moves between languages is detected on its main language, so read the switched passages carefully.
Which exports come back, and who sees the recording?
The same run gives TXT, DOCX, SRT, VTT and JSON. Recordings are transcribed on our own servers and are never used for training, and you control when the file and its transcript are deleted.
