Transcribe research interviews in Australia a whole study, not one tape.
Qualitative research interviews in Australia usually run 60 to 120 minutes and come in sets of twenty or more; each 90-minute interview comes back here as text in about 3 minutes, ready to export as DOCX for coding. The first 20 minutes are free, and thirty 90-minute interviews, 2,700 minutes in all, fit on one $24 pack of 5,000 minutes.
What a study's interviews turn into
Transcripts ready for coding the same week the fieldwork ends.
DOCX that imports cleanly
Export each interview as DOCX and import it into NVivo or a similar coding package with its timestamps intact. TXT works for tools that prefer plain text, and JSON suits a team that scripts its own analysis.
A whole study at once
Put the interview files in a Google Drive folder, share it, and paste the folder link: each file becomes its own transcript. Single files go through upload page, phone recordings and dictaphone files alike.
Quotes you can verify
Every passage keeps its timestamp, so when a quote goes into a thesis chapter or journal article you can jump back to the moment and check the wording against the audio before it is published.
Privacy for participants
Recordings are transcribed on our own servers and are never used for training. Your ethics protocol may set rules on where recordings are processed and stored; read it alongside our privacy page, and delete each recording once the transcript is checked.
Why transcription stalls a study
Thirty long interviews is weeks of typing before analysis can start.
✗ Typing them yourself
A research assistant spends four to six hours on each hour of tape.
- Weeks of typing before coding starts
- Per-minute services that eat the budget
- Free tools capped at short files
- Inconsistent formatting across typists
- Quoted lines with no time reference
- Audio passed to processors you cannot name
✓ Uploading the study
Each interview returns in minutes, in one consistent format.
- About 3 minutes per 90-minute interview
- DOCX, TXT and JSON for analysis
- A Drive folder link for the whole set
- Speakers named in summary and quotes
- Timestamps for every passage
- Kept on our own servers

FAQ
Research interview transcription, the common questions.
How long does a 90-minute interview take?
Close to three minutes. Thirty interviews take about an hour and a half of processing in total, and you can upload them back to back without waiting for each one.
What does a study of thirty interviews cost?
Thirty interviews of 90 minutes is 2,700 minutes, more than the $12 pack holds, so the $24 pack of 5,000 minutes is the one to buy and leaves room for follow-ups. A pilot of five interviews fits in the $6 pack of 500 minutes. All prices are in US dollars.
Is the transcript verbatim enough for analysis?
It is a full transcript of the speech with timestamps. Plan to read each one against the audio for names, local terms and any passage where two people talk at once, which you would do with any transcript before coding.
Are there limits on file size?
Files may be as long as 10 hours or as large as 5 GB. Before the first pack, uploads go up to 2 GB, which is far more than a typical interview recording.
Can interviews be in languages other than English?
Yes. 99 languages are detected automatically, including Korean, Japanese, Spanish and Portuguese. An interview held mostly in one language is detected on that main language, so check passages where the participant switches.
How are interviewer and participant shown?
They are identified and named in the summary, the key quotes and the chapters. You can export the text as TXT, DOCX, SRT, VTT or JSON.
