Transcribe long interview recordings in Canada the whole sitting, one upload.
A 90-minute interview recorded in Canada comes back as text in about 3 minutes, and a two-hour one in about 4, with one file allowed up to 10 hours or 5 GB. The first 20 minutes are free for a first-time visitor, and a $6 pack of 500 minutes (prices in USD) transcribes the rest with room left for several more interviews.
Made for the long sit-down
The interviews that run past the hour are the ones worth keeping word for word.
Journalism on a deadline
A source interview often runs 70 to 100 minutes before the line you need finally arrives. The text is ready a few minutes after upload, and the key quotes carry timestamps, so you can replay the exact sentence before it goes into the story.
Oral history, kept whole
Life-story interviews for archives, museums and community projects tend to fill two or three hours in one sitting. Send the full session from the upload page as one file; there is no reason to cut it at the hour, because a single file can hold up to 10 hours.
HR and workplace interviews
Interviews about a complaint or a role are recorded so nothing is lost and nobody has to rely on notes. No bot joins the call; you upload the recording afterwards, and the summary names each speaker so you can see who raised which point.
Two official languages
English and French are both among the 99 languages detected without a setting, so a French-language interview needs no switch on your side. The questions below cover what happens when a single recording moves between the two.
Where long interviews get stuck
The second hour is where most transcription tools stop helping.
✗ Tools built around short clips
A two-hour interview runs into upload caps, plans priced by the month and transcripts that end partway through the conversation.
- Upload limits counted in megabytes
- A free tier that ends long before the interview does
- A monthly plan to transcribe one project
- A full working day to type up one long interview
- No timestamps to hold a quote against the tape
- The recording cut into pieces just to fit
✓ One interview, one file
The whole sitting goes up once and comes back with one clock running from the first question to the last.
- Around 2 minutes of processing for each hour of talk
- Up to 10 hours or 5 GB in a single file
- The first 20 minutes free on a first file
- Each speaker named in the summary, quotes and chapters
- Names, dates and figures pulled into a list
- TXT, DOCX, SRT, VTT and JSON from one run

FAQ
Long interviews recorded in Canada, answered.
How long does a 2-hour interview take to transcribe?
About 4 minutes. Processing runs at roughly 2 minutes per hour of audio, so a three-hour oral history session is usually ready in around 6 minutes. If you close the tab, the finished text waits in your Library.
What do ten 90-minute interviews cost?
Ten interviews of 90 minutes add up to 900 minutes, which fits the $12 pack of 2,000 minutes with 1,100 minutes left over. A single two-hour interview fits the $6 pack. Prices are in US dollars, each pack is a one-time purchase, and the credits never expire.
My interview is a large video file. Will it upload, or should I split it?
Before your first pack, files up to 2 GB upload; a bigger file starts once a pack is on the account, and the ceiling is 5 GB or 10 hours per file, whichever comes first. You only split a session that runs past 10 hours, and then it goes up as two files.
What happens with an interview that switches between English and French?
The recording is detected on its main language, so an interview that is mostly English with French passages is transcribed as English. Read the French passages against the audio before you quote them, and if a whole interview is in French it is simply transcribed in French.
Which exports do I get, and who can see the recording?
TXT, DOCX, SRT, VTT and JSON all come from the same run, so the DOCX can go to an editor and the SRT onto a video. Whether the subject is a source or an employee, recordings are transcribed on our own servers and are never used for training, and you can delete a file and its text at any time.
Can I use it for an examination for discovery recording?
You can transcribe it to work from: the text has timestamps that take you straight to a passage. It is an AI transcript, not a certified transcript and not a substitute for a court reporter, and nothing on this page is legal advice.
