Transcribe long podcast episodes from the UK show notes included.

A long UK podcast episode of 2 to 4 hours comes back in about 4 to 8 minutes, at roughly 2 minutes per hour of audio. Paste the RSS feed or upload the file; the first 20 minutes are free, a $6 pack of 500 minutes covers a 3-hour episode, and the chapters and brief are the start of the show notes.

From feed to show notes

Three hours of conversation, turned into notes, chapters and captions.

Paste the feed

A podcast's RSS feed or an episode page goes in as a link, so a 400 MB WAV master never has to be uploaded. If the episode also lives on YouTube, that link works too.

The brief becomes show notes

The brief states what the episode is about and its takeaways, and the chapters give timestamps where the conversation changes subject. Copy them into the episode description and edit to your house style.

An episode, a season, an archive

A 3-hour episode is 180 minutes on the $6 pack of 500. A season of twelve 2.5-hour episodes is 1,800 minutes, on the $12 pack of 2,000. A back catalogue of a hundred such episodes needs three $24 packs, each holding 5,000 minutes. Prices shown are US dollars.

Hosts and guests, named

Hosts and guests are identified and named in the summary, key quotes and chapters, which makes pull quotes for social posts and the episode page quick to find.

Why long episodes rarely get transcripts

The longer the episode, the less likely anyone writes it up.

✗ Typing or skipping it

A three-hour conversation is days of typing, so most long episodes go out with a two-line description.

  • Show notes written from memory
  • Upload limits below one episode
  • Masters too large to send
  • Per-hour prices that add up fast
  • No chapters for listeners to skip
  • Quotes nobody can find again

✓ Every episode, written up

Paste the feed and each episode comes back with a transcript, chapters, a brief and quotes.

  • Three hours ready in about 6 minutes
  • Free for the first 20 minutes
  • $6 for 500 minutes, never expiring
  • Guests' names in the summary and quotes
  • Chapters ready for the episode page
  • SRT for the video upload

00:00:45 We are going long today, so get comfortable. My guest has spent twenty years restoring old boats, and I have a lot of questions.
00:42:10 The first one I bought had a hole you could put your arm through. I paid almost nothing for it, and that was still too much.
01:37:55 What is the mistake you see most often from people who are starting out?
01:38:20 Buying the boat before the shed. You need somewhere dry to work for two winters, minimum.
02:54:30 That is where we will leave it. Thank you for three brilliant hours.

FAQ

Long podcast episodes, answered.

How long does a 3-hour episode take to transcribe?

About 6 minutes, at roughly 2 minutes per hour of audio. A 4-hour episode takes about 8.

What do a season and a back catalogue cost?

A season of twelve 2.5-hour episodes is 1,800 minutes, which fits the $12 pack of 2,000 minutes. A hundred-episode archive at that length is 15,000 minutes, or three $24 packs. The first 20 minutes are free, and credits do not expire between seasons.

My episode file is several gigabytes. Will that work?

Yes. Paste the RSS feed and nothing is uploaded. As a file, one episode can be up to 10 hours or 5 GB; before the first pack, uploads go up to 2 GB. Splitting is not needed.

Do non-English episodes work?

99 languages are detected automatically. An episode that switches language is transcribed on its main language. Music beds, stings and sound effects are left out, and the conversation is transcribed.

Can I add the transcript to my podcast host?

Download SRT or VTT for a caption or transcript file, or TXT and DOCX for the episode page. Whether your host accepts a transcript file depends on the host.

Who sees the audio, and which exports are there?

Recordings are transcribed on our own servers and are never used for training, and you can delete an episode and its transcript at any time. Download it as TXT, DOCX, SRT, VTT or JSON.
