Transcribe a 3-hour podcast episode before the show notes are due.
You recorded a 3-hour episode and need it as text. Drop the file or paste the episode link below: 180 minutes of audio takes about 6 minutes, the first 20 minutes are free, and one $6 pack (500 minutes) transcribes the rest. The brief that comes back is most of your show notes.
One long episode
Three hours of conversation, back as text before your coffee cools.
Upload the master, not three parts
A 3-hour episode exported as a 128 kbps MP3 is roughly 170 MB, and a WAV master of the same length is closer to 2 GB. Both go up as one file. The box on this page takes the usual MP3 sizes; a big WAV master continues on the upload page, where files up to 5 GB are accepted.
About six minutes of waiting
Processing runs at about 2 minutes per hour of audio, so three hours is usually ready in around six. Close the tab if you like; the episode waits in your Library. A public run of 9.31 hours finished in 1,033 seconds, and you can read it on the long-files proof page.
What 180 minutes costs
The first 20 minutes are free, so you can read how the episode opens before paying anything. One $6 pack (500 minutes) transcribes the rest from where the preview stopped and leaves well over two hours for next week. Packs are one-time and the credits never expire.
Show notes from the brief
The episode comes back with a brief that states the thesis and the takeaways, chapters with timestamps, the names, numbers and dates that came up, and the questions the conversation answers. Paste the chapters under the player, lift two takeaways for the description, and the notes are done.
Before and after
A three-hour episode with and without a transcript.
✗ Writing notes from memory
You recorded three hours, and the description has to sum it up in a paragraph. Without text, that means listening again at double speed and guessing at timestamps.
- Scrubbing the timeline for the one good story
- Chapter markers typed by hand, minute by minute
- A guest's book title spelled from memory
- Episode pages with a player and a single line
- Nothing for search engines to read
- An evening lost to an episode you already made
✓ Notes from the text
You start from a transcript and a brief, so writing the description is editing rather than recall.
- Chapters with timestamps, ready to paste
- Names, titles and numbers as they were said
- Takeaways to adapt into the episode summary
- Guests named in the summary and key quotes
- A full text page under the episode player
- DOCX for the editor, SRT or VTT for the video cut
Sample output
Two hours in, the clock still runs from zero.
Illustrative only, written for this page and not taken from a real episode. Timestamps run continuously from the first second of the file to the last.

FAQ
Three-hour episodes, answered.
How long does a 3-hour podcast episode take to transcribe?
Around six minutes, at about 2 minutes per hour of audio. A noisy remote recording can take a little longer. Pasting an episode link skips the upload, so the clock starts as soon as we have fetched the audio.
What does a 3-hour episode cost?
It is 180 minutes. The first 20 are free for a first-time visitor, and one $6 pack (500 minutes) covers the rest of the episode with plenty left over for the next one. If you publish a 3-hour episode every week, the $12 pack (2,000 minutes) holds about eleven of them.
My WAV master is huge. Will it upload?
One file can be up to 10 hours or 5 GB, whichever comes first. Before your first pack, uploads go up to 2 GB; a file over 2 GB starts once a pack is on your account. An MP3 or M4A export of the same episode is a fraction of the size and transcribes just as well.
Do I need to cut the episode into parts?
No. Upload it as one file and you get one transcript with one timeline. Only a recording longer than 10 hours needs to go up as two files.
My guest speaks another language for part of the show. Will the transcript cope?
We support 99 languages and detect the language automatically, so there is nothing to set before you upload. Tell us if a recording mixes languages heavily and part of it comes back thin.
Which formats can I export, and who sees the audio?
TXT, DOCX, SRT, VTT and JSON, from the same run. Your episode stays private to your account: recordings are transcribed on our own servers and are never used for training.
