Transcribe a long QCP file old phone memos, read at last.
Seven hours of QCP voice memos is 420 minutes: joined into one file it transcribes in about 14 minutes and fits the $6 pack (500 minutes) with 80 to spare, and the first 20 minutes are free. QCP holds 8 or 13 kbps phone voice, about 3.6 to 5.9 MB an hour, and if the upload refuses it, convert it to MP3 first.
PureVoice files
A format from the first years of mobile voice memos, still sitting in backups and voicemail exports.
Where QCP comes from
QCP is the Qualcomm PureVoice file format. CDMA-era phones saved voice memos and ringtones in it, and some voicemail systems and old phone backups still export recordings as .qcp, carrying QCELP or EVRC voice inside.
Two bitrates, both small
QCELP at 13 kbps is about 5.9 MB an hour; the 8 kbps modes, including EVRC, are about 3.6 MB. A ten-hour file is under 60 MB at either rate, a fraction of the 500 MB the box on this page takes and of the 2 GB line before a first pack.
Converting old memos
Many builds of ffmpeg read QCP: ffmpeg -i memo.qcp memo.mp3 is usually enough, and VLC can play some of them. If the upload refuses a file, convert first, then send it from the upload page. For a folder of short memos, join the MP3s in date order so they come back as one document.
What the text gives you
A long memo file returns a brief, chapters at each new memo or topic, the names, numbers and dates said, and a chat to ask where a particular note was. Every chapter keeps its timestamp so you can play the original back.
Old memos, usually
The recordings survive every phone upgrade. Listening to them never happens.

FAQ
Long QCP files: answers
Can I upload a QCP file directly?
Try it. If the upload refuses the file, convert it to MP3 or MP4 with ffmpeg or VLC and upload the result. The transcript is the same either way.
How long does seven hours take?
About 14 minutes, since processing runs near 2 minutes per audio hour. The file is small, so the upload takes moments.
What does a large memo archive cost?
Seven hours is 420 minutes on the $6 pack. An archive of 25 hours is 1,500 minutes, on the $12 pack (2,000 minutes) with 500 left. Credits never expire, so a second folder found later still has minutes waiting.
Should I join many short memos?
Joining gives one searchable document with a chapter per memo; keeping them separate gives one transcript each. Either works. Keep a joined file at 10 hours or less, or split it into two.
The audio is muffled phone voice. Is that a problem?
Narrowband voice transcribes, though a quiet or distant voice is harder for any system. Background noise is not transcribed, only the speech.
Which languages, which exports, and where is it processed?
99 languages, detected automatically. Exports are TXT, DOCX, SRT, VTT and JSON. Recordings are transcribed on our own servers and are never used for training.
