Transcribe a long VOX file telephone audio that finally reads.
An 8-hour VOX file is 480 minutes: it transcribes in about 16 minutes and fits the $6 pack (500 minutes) with 20 left over, and the first 20 minutes cost nothing. VOX is raw ADPCM with no header, about 10.8 MB an hour at 6 kHz or 14.4 MB at 8 kHz, so if the upload refuses it, convert it to MP3 with the sample rate stated.
What a VOX file is
Four bits a sample, no header, and a sample rate you have to know. That is the whole format.
Who writes VOX
VOX is the Dialogic ADPCM format used by telephony boards, call recording systems, voicemail and IVR platforms, and some older voice loggers. Many systems that record every line on a phone network store each call this way, so a shift or a day of calls can end up as one long VOX file.
Megabytes per hour
VOX stores 4 bits per sample. At 6,000 samples a second that is 24 kbps, about 10.8 MB an hour; at 8,000 it is 32 kbps, about 14.4 MB. Ten hours at 8 kHz is roughly 144 MB, so size never blocks a VOX file. The 10-hour line per file is the one that counts.
The missing header
Because a VOX file carries no description of itself, a converter has to be told the rate. With sox the command is close to sox -t vox -r 8000 in.vox out.wav, and ffmpeg can read it with the OKI ADPCM decoder and the rate given. Try 8 kHz first; if the voices sound fast and high, use 6 kHz. Then upload from the upload page.
What comes back from a call log
A long call file returns a brief, chapters where the calls or topics change, the account numbers, dates and amounts said aloud, and a chat over the text. Callers and agents are identified and named in the summary, key quotes and chapters.

FAQ
Long VOX files: what callers into this page ask
Will a VOX file upload as it is?
Sometimes. Without a header it can be hard for any tool to recognise, so if the upload refuses it, convert to MP3 or MP4 with ffmpeg or VLC, or with sox, stating the sample rate. Most call systems also have an export to WAV.
How do I know if my VOX is 6 kHz or 8 kHz?
The recording system's settings say so. If you cannot check, convert at 8 kHz and listen: normal voices mean it is right, fast, high-pitched voices mean 6 kHz. A wrong rate garbles the words, so check before you upload a long file.
What does a call archive cost?
A single 8-hour shift is 480 minutes on the $6 pack. Forty hours of calls is 2,400 minutes, past the $12 pack's 2,000, so it goes on the $24 pack (5,000 minutes) with 2,600 left for next week.
How long will it take?
Near 2 minutes per audio hour, so 8 hours takes about 16 minutes and a full 10-hour file about 20. The upload is quick because the file is small.
Should I join short calls into one long file?
If you want one searchable document per day, yes: convert them, join them in order with ffmpeg or sox, and keep the total at 10 hours or less. Hold music and tones are not transcribed; the speech is. Recording a call needs whatever consent the law where you are requires.
Which languages and exports, and where does the audio go?
99 languages are detected automatically, and exports are TXT, DOCX, SRT, VTT and JSON. Recordings are transcribed on our own servers and are never used for training.
