Transcribe a long 3CX call recording straight from the WAV your PBX saved.
A 3CX call recording of 90 minutes is transcribed in about 3 minutes once you download the WAV the PBX saved and upload it here, with a ceiling of 10 hours or 5 GB per file. The first 20 minutes are free, and that call uses 90 of the 500 minutes in a $6 pack. There is no 3CX integration and nothing is installed on the PBX; the transcript starts from the recording you download.
From the PBX to a transcript
3CX already saved the call as a WAV. Download it and the hard part is over.
Finding the WAV
3CX stores call recordings as WAV files on the PBX, and users with the right permissions reach them from the recordings section of the 3CX web interface, where each call can be played or downloaded. If your administrator archives older recordings to other storage, the file lives wherever that archive points, so check the recording settings or ask them.
Why the WAV uploads easily
Call audio is sampled for the telephone, not for music. At 8 kHz, 16-bit mono, a WAV uses 16 kilobytes a second, so a 90-minute call weighs about 86 MB. Drop it in the box; anything too heavy for the box continues on the upload page, up to 5 GB.
A day of support calls, priced
A support line that records eight hours of calls in a day produces 480 minutes of audio, which fits inside the $6 pack of 500 minutes. A team that records that every weekday reaches about 2,400 minutes in a week, and that belongs on the $24 pack of 5,000.
What each call returns
Every call comes back with a brief, chapters with timestamps and the order numbers, dates and amounts said aloud. Agent and caller are identified and named in the summary and chapters, and you can ask the chat whether a cancellation was ever offered on the call.
Where 3CX recordings stall
The PBX keeps every call. Nobody has time to play them back.
✗ WAVs piling up on the PBX
Recordings fill the disk and get listened to only when a complaint arrives.
- A dispute settled by whoever remembers best
- Ninety minutes of hold music and talk to scrub
- A WAV too big for a 25 MB API limit
- Splitting calls to make them fit somewhere
- Coaching notes written days after the call
- Disk cleanups that delete the evidence
✓ WAV in, searchable call out
Upload the file once and keep a document you can search long after the WAV is archived.
- A 90-minute 3CX call back in about 3 minutes
- 20 free minutes on your first 3CX file
- A day of calls inside one $6 pack
- Chapters at each turn of the call
- A chat to check what was offered
- SRT if the call becomes a training clip

FAQ
3CX recordings: the questions people ask.
How fast is a 90-minute 3CX recording?
About 3 minutes once the WAV has uploaded, at roughly 2 minutes of processing per hour of audio. A 10-minute call is back in seconds, and a 4-hour conference bridge takes about 8 minutes.
What do a lot of 3CX calls cost?
Your first visit makes the first 20 minutes of 3CX audio free. Up to 500 minutes of calls fit the $6 pack; up to 2,000 fit the $12 pack; heavier months go on the $24 pack of 5,000. Each pack is a one-time purchase in US dollars with no expiry.
Does the upload accept 3CX's WAV as it is?
Yes, WAV uploads directly, so there is nothing to convert. If you saved the call from somewhere that changed it to another format, MP3 and M4A are fine too.
How large can one 3CX recording be?
A 3CX WAV may be up to 10 hours or 5 GB. Before you buy a first pack, uploads are capped at 2 GB, and anything over that starts as soon as a pack is on the account. A telephone WAV of 10 hours is under 600 MB, so the limit is rarely reached.
Is recording these calls allowed?
That depends on where you and your callers are: record only with the consent the law in your location requires, and handle that through your 3CX announcements and policies. WhipScribe transcribes files you already hold the right to use.
What exports come back, and where does the WAV go?
A 3CX call exports as TXT, DOCX, SRT, VTT and JSON. The WAV is transcribed on our own servers and is never used for training. Calls in any of 99 languages are detected automatically, including calls that switch between two.
