Transcribe long workshops recorded with an Audio-Technica ATR3350 a small lav, a long day, a full record.
A 4-hour workshop recorded through an Audio-Technica ATR3350 comes back as text in about 8 minutes once you upload the file from the camera, recorder or phone it was plugged into, up to 10 hours or 5 GB per file. The opening minutes are a free preview. Packs start at $4 for 300 minutes, and credits never expire.
Cheap mic, long session
The ATR3350 is a wired lav with a small battery pack and a 3.5 mm plug. It records nothing itself; the device it plugs into does.
Getting the file off the device
A camera puts the session in its video clips on the card; a pocket recorder writes a WAV or MP3; a phone, through the right adapter for its socket, saves to whichever recording app you used. Copy the file to a computer and drop it here, or paste a Google Drive share link if the session was uploaded by someone else.
Four hours and the upload limits
A 4-hour MP3 at 128 kbps is about 230 MB and goes straight into the box above. A 4-hour stereo WAV at 48 kHz and 24-bit is about 4.1 GB: inside the 5 GB a file can be, with or without a pack, and it continues on the upload page. Camera video for four hours usually passes 5 GB, so export the audio.
A battery that lasts the day
The ATR3350's power module runs on a small battery; check the type in the manual and fit a fresh one before a long session, because a dying cell turns into hiss and then silence. Tape the cable to the shirt so it does not rub against clothing for four hours.
What a training day turns into
A brief with the session's thesis and takeaways, chapters for each exercise, break and Q&A with timestamps, the names, figures and dates mentioned, and the questions the trainer answered. The trainer is named in the summary, key quotes and chapters, and the chat finds the moment someone asked about the deadline.
Long sessions without notes
Four hours of training recorded on a cheap lav, and the follow-up email still gets written from memory.

FAQ
Audio-Technica ATR3350 recordings, answered.
How long does a 4-hour ATR3350 recording take?
About 8 minutes, since each hour of audio takes roughly 2. A full 8-hour training day is back in about 16.
Which file do I upload if the lav went into a camera?
The camera clip, or an audio export of it if the clip is over 5 GB. If the camera split the day into several clips, join them in an editor first or upload them in order.
What does a month of workshops cost?
Eight 4-hour days are 1,920 minutes, which fit the $18 pack of 3,000 with 1,080 to spare. Packs start at $4 for 300 minutes. A busier month of twenty such days is 4,800 minutes, inside the $32 pack of 6,000. Packs are one-time and minutes never expire.
What if a session runs past 10 hours?
A single file can be up to 10 hours or 5 GB. A recorder left running across two days needs to go in as two files.
Does WhipScribe connect to the mic or the recorder?
No. There is no integration, plugin or bot with Audio-Technica's products or any recorder. You copy the file and upload it, or paste a link.
Which exports come back, and is the session private?
TXT, DOCX, SRT, VTT and JSON. Music played during breaks is not transcribed; the speech is. Recordings are transcribed on our own servers and are never used for training.
