Transcribe long lectures and talks recorded with a Sennheiser XS Lav the app you recorded with keeps the file.
A 90-minute lecture recorded with a Sennheiser XS Lav is back as text in about 3 minutes once you upload the file your phone or laptop saved, up to 10 hours or 5 GB per file. The first 20 minutes are free on a first visit; five 90-minute lectures use 450 of the $6 pack's 500 minutes, and a 13-week term of them, 1,170 minutes, fits the $12 pack of 2,000.
Clip on, record, upload
The XS Lav comes as a USB-C version and a Mobile version with a headset plug. Either way, the device you plug it into does the recording.
Where the lecture is saved
On a phone it is in the voice-memo or camera app, usually an M4A or a video file. On a laptop it is wherever your recording program saves, often a WAV from an audio editor or an MP4 from a screen recorder; check that program's export settings. Copy the file across, or share it to Google Drive and paste the link.
WAV from a laptop can be big
A 90-minute mono WAV at 48 kHz and 24-bit is about 780 MB, more than the 500 MB the box on this page takes; it continues on the upload page, where a file can be up to 5 GB. An MP3 export of the same lecture is under 100 MB at common settings and transcribes the same words.
Clip it where the voice is
A lav clipped mid-chest, away from a scarf or lanyard, keeps the speaker steady as they walk. Questions from the room arrive quieter than the lecturer; repeating each question into the mic keeps it in the text. A cable tug can unplug a USB-C lav mid-session, so a quick listen after the first minutes is worth it.
What a lecture turns into
A brief with the lecture's thesis and takeaways, chapters with timestamps that usually follow the slides, the terms, names and dates said, and the questions the lecture answers. The lecturer is named in the summary, key quotes and chapters, and the chat over the transcript answers a revision question in seconds.
Recorded lectures without notes
A full term recorded, and revision still means scrolling through ninety-minute files.
✗ The usual route
Recordings pile up; notes do not.
- Laptop WAVs too large for small upload boxes
- A term of lectures with no index
- Definitions hunted by replaying the audio
- Questions from the room lost to the lav
- Names and dates copied wrongly from slides
- Notes typed while the lecture plays

FAQ
Sennheiser XS Lav recordings, answered.
How long does a 90-minute XS Lav lecture take?
About 3 minutes, at roughly 2 minutes per hour of audio. A three-hour seminar is back in about 6.
Should I record with the USB-C or the Mobile version?
Either produces a file WhipScribe can take; what matters is the app. The USB-C version is usually used with a laptop or a USB-C phone, the Mobile version with a phone's headset socket or an adapter. Check that the recording app is set to the external mic before you start.
What does a term of lectures cost?
Thirteen 90-minute lectures are 1,170 minutes, which fit the $12 pack of 2,000 with 830 left for seminars or a second course. Five lectures fit the $6 pack of 500. Packs are one-time and minutes never expire, so leftover minutes carry into next term.
Can I record someone else's lecture?
Ask the lecturer and follow your institution's rules on recording before you do. WhipScribe works only on a recording you upload; it does not join a class.
Is there a Sennheiser app connection?
No. WhipScribe has no integration, plugin or bot with Sennheiser's products or apps. You upload the saved file or paste a link to it.
Which exports come back, and who hears the recording?
TXT, DOCX, SRT, VTT and JSON, with 99 languages detected automatically and English terms inside other languages kept. Recordings are transcribed on our own servers and are never used for training.
