Transcribe a long body camera recording for the words spoken on shift.
Export the body camera recording from the device or the system that stores your footage, usually as MP4 video, and upload it, or its audio alone to keep the file small. A 10-hour shift takes about 20 minutes, the first 20 minutes are free, and the $12 pack of 2,000 minutes covers it with 1,420 minutes left.
From the camera to text
A long shift, reduced to the conversations in it and the minute each one happened.
Get a standard file out first
Body cameras store footage in different ways depending on the maker and the system around them. Export the clip you need as MP4, or as audio in WAV or MP3, from the dock software or footage system you already use; that exported file is what you upload.
Long shifts and file limits
One file can run up to 10 hours or 5 GB, whichever comes first. A full shift of video is often larger than 5 GB, so export the audio alone: ten hours of 64 kbps MP3 is under 300 MB. A shift longer than 10 hours goes in as two files, split at a break.
Speech, not the street
Traffic, radios in the background, wind and crowd noise are not transcribed. What people said near the camera is, each line with a timestamp, so you can go straight to the moment in the original footage and listen for yourself.
What it is for, and what it is not
Use the text for training reviews, shift reports, research and finding the minute you need. Read it as an AI transcript with timestamps for working from: it is not a certified court transcript, it does not replace a court reporter, and it is not legal advice.
Why body camera footage is slow to review
Ten hours of video, a few minutes of conversation, and no index.
✗ Reviewing by playback
Without text, finding one exchange in a shift means scrubbing through hours of walking, driving and waiting.
- Hours of footage watched for minutes of talk
- Exports far over common upload limits
- A shift that will not fit a 25 MB API
- Notes from memory instead of the recording
- Re-listening to check a single phrase
- Per-minute services priced for short clips
✓ Search the shift
Upload the audio once and search every spoken word, with the timestamp to check it against the video.
- A 10-hour file in roughly 20 minutes
- Audio-only exports under 300 MB
- Two files for shifts longer than 10 hours
- Packs of $6, $12 and $24, no subscription
- Silence and noise produce no text
- Plain text for reports, JSON for systems

FAQ
Body camera recordings, the common questions.
How long does a full shift take to transcribe?
Processing takes about 2 minutes for each hour of audio. A 10-hour file is ready in about 20 minutes; our public 9.31-hour run finished in 1,033 seconds.
What does a shift, or a week of them, cost?
A 10-hour shift is 600 minutes, more than the $6 pack's 500, so the $12 pack of 2,000 is the right one. A week of five 10-hour shifts is 3,000 minutes and fits the $24 pack of 5,000, which also includes API access. A team that records every week can use the $19/month Workspace instead.
The export is bigger than 5 GB. How do I send it?
Export the audio alone, or a lower-resolution copy. Up to 2 GB uploads before a pack; up to 5 GB once a pack is on the account.
A shift ran past 10 hours. Can it be one file?
No. Ten hours is the most one file can hold, so export the shift as two files, split at a break, and upload both.
Which languages can be transcribed from a shift?
99 languages, detected automatically. A conversation that switches language is transcribed on the recording's main language, and English with Tagalog in one file is handled.
Which exports, and who can see the footage?
Every run produces TXT, DOCX, SRT, VTT and JSON. As with all uploads, recordings are transcribed on our own servers and are never used for training. Delete the file whenever you choose, and its transcript is deleted with it.
