From the court's record to text

Hours of argument, searchable before the next hearing.

Ask for a standard export

CourtSmart recordings are kept by the court and typically played back in its own software. When you request a copy, ask for WAV or MP3 rather than the system's native format, which a general upload may not read. If the upload refuses what you receive, convert it to MP3 first.

All channels in the mix

Digital court recording captures several microphones. A copy that mixes the bench, the witness stand and the counsel tables keeps every voice; a single-channel copy loses whoever spoke at another microphone. When in doubt, ask the records office which channels the export contains; asking once saves a second request later.

Small files, long sittings

A three-hour MP3 at 128 kbps is about 173 MB (128 kilobits × 10,800 seconds ÷ 8), far below the 2 GB first-upload line. A full day sits well inside the limit of 10 hours or 5 GB per file. Send it in the box above or through the upload page.

What the text is, and is not

You get a brief, chapters by witness or topic and the names, dates and figures said, with the judge, counsel and witnesses named in the summary, quotes and chapters. This is a working AI transcript for preparing from, not a certified transcript, not a replacement for a court reporter and not legal advice.

Why hearings stay unread

A native format, many microphones, three hours of argument.

✗ Listening it back

Preparing from a hearing without text means playing it through in court software.

  • A native file that ordinary players refuse
  • One channel exported, half the voices missing
  • Three hours replayed to check one ruling
  • Hand notes that drop the exact words
  • An official transcript weeks away
  • Hearings across a month never compared

✓ Read it the same day

One standard export, one upload, and the hearing is searchable.

  • Three hours of argument in about 6 minutes
  • Every microphone mixed into one file
  • Rulings and dates listed with their times
  • Two hearings on one $6 pack
  • DOCX for notes, JSON for case tools
  • A file up to 10 hours or 5 GB

At about 2 minutes per audio hour, a three-hour hearing is ready in roughly 6 minutes. A public run of 2.48 hours took 200 seconds.

What does a month of hearings cost?

Two three-hour hearings are 360 minutes and fit the $6 pack. Sixty hours over a month is 3,600 minutes, which calls for the $24 pack of 5,000 minutes.

Can I upload the native CourtSmart file?

Probably not. Ask the court for WAV or MP3, or export it from the court's playback software if you have access to it. Where the upload refuses a native file, convert it to MP3 first.

How long and how large can a CourtSmart export be?

Up to 10 hours or 5 GB each, and 2 GB until your first pack is bought. A hearing longer than 10 hours goes in as two files, split at a recess.

Which downloads, and where is the audio processed?
