Transcribe long dictation recorded in Express Dictate case notes, reports and chapters spoken aloud.
Save the Express Dictate recording as a WAV or MP3, or convert it first if it arrives in a dictation-only format, and upload it here; a 90-minute dictation is transcribed in about 3 minutes. The opening minutes are a free preview, and five 90-minute sessions use 450 minutes of the $18 pack of 3,000 minutes.
Spoken today, typed today
You dictate because it is faster than typing. The transcript should not be the slow part.
Get a standard audio file
Express Dictate can send recordings in more than one format, depending on its settings. WAV and MP3 upload as they are. If your files end in .dct or another dictation-only format, convert them to WAV or MP3 first, for example with the conversion tools NCH offers, then upload.
Dictation is small
Voice-only audio compresses well: at 64 kbps an hour is about 29 MB, so even a 10-hour backlog fits easily in the 500 MB box. Uncompressed WAV is much larger, roughly 115 MB an hour in mono at 16 kHz, and still fits for a few hours at a time. Larger audio, up to 5 GB, goes through the upload page.
A week and a month
Packs start at $4 for 300 minutes, and credits never expire.
Spoken commands and structure
If you say formatting words such as "new paragraph" or "full stop", they may come back as words, so a find-and-replace tidies them. Each dictation also returns chapters, a brief with takeaways, and the names, numbers and dates you said. Unusual surnames and product codes are the words most worth checking, so read names and figures before the document leaves your desk.
Dictation waiting in a queue
The files were sent from the phone on Monday, and the typed version still is not back by Thursday.

FAQ
Express Dictate files, the questions people ask.
How long does a 90-minute dictation take?
About 3 minutes once uploaded, at roughly 2 minutes per hour of audio. A full 10-hour backlog in one file takes around 20 minutes.
My files are .dct. Can I upload them?
Not directly. Convert them to WAV or MP3 first; NCH's software offers conversion, and Express Dictate may also be set to send a standard format. Check your send settings.
What does a month of dictation cost?
First-time visitors get a free preview of the opening minutes, after which a longer dictation stays in preview until a pack transcribes the remainder. Twenty 90-minute sessions are 1,800 minutes, covered by the $18 pack of 3,000. Credits never expire, so quiet weeks cost nothing.
Is this a certified legal transcript?
No. It is an AI transcript to work from, not a certified or official transcript and not legal advice. Review it before anything is filed.
Is WhipScribe connected to Express Dictate?
No. There is no integration or plugin, and WhipScribe does not receive files sent from the app. Save or export the recording, then upload it.
Where is the dictation processed?
Dictation is transcribed on our own servers and is never used for training. Download TXT, DOCX, SRT, VTT or JSON, and 99 languages are detected automatically.
