Transcribe long recordings from IBM Video Streaming town halls and conferences, in text.
An archived town hall or conference from IBM Video Streaming becomes text when an account owner downloads the video and uploads it: a 90-minute town hall returns in about 3 minutes. The first 20 minutes are free, a town hall uses 90 minutes of the $6 pack of 500, and an 18-hour, three-day conference fits the $12 pack of 2,000.
From the internal archive
Not everyone watches the town hall live. Most people would read it.
Getting the video out
An administrator downloads the archived video from IBM Video Streaming, usually as an MP4; your company's settings decide who can, so check the export settings or ask the channel owner. WhipScribe has no IBM integration and nothing joins the broadcast. It reads the file after the event.
Internal material stays yours
Upload only recordings your organisation has cleared you to work with. Recordings are transcribed on our own servers and are never used for training, and the person who uploaded them can delete the video and its text at any time.
A conference in three files
A three-day conference of 6 hours a day is 18 hours, or 1,080 minutes. Upload one file per day; each stays under the 10-hour limit. The $12 pack of 2,000 minutes covers the lot with 920 minutes left for the quarter's town halls.
What leadership and staff get
A town hall comes back with a brief of the main message and takeaways, chapters for each speaker and topic, the figures and dates announced, and the questions staff asked. Leaders are named in the summary and chapters, and the chat answers questions like what was said about the reorganisation.
Town halls without text
A 90-minute all-hands is hard to skim and easy to misquote.
✗ After the broadcast
A recording that few people rewatch.
- Staff in other time zones skip it
- Figures quoted wrongly in team chats
- A 25 MB OpenAI Whisper API limit on the file
- Summaries written by whoever had time
- Questions from staff lost after the event
- Conference sessions without notes
✓ With a transcript
The town hall as something people actually read.
- The archive MP4, unchanged
- 90 minutes read back in about 3
- Figures and dates announced, in the brief
- Chapters for each speaker
- Staff questions listed with times
- SRT captions for the replay

FAQ
IBM Video Streaming recordings, the common questions.
How long does a 90-minute town hall take?
Close to 3 minutes; every audio hour takes about 2. A 6-hour conference day needs around 12.
What does a year of town halls and a conference cost?
The first visit carries the first 20 minutes free. Four quarterly 90-minute town halls are 360 minutes on the $6 pack of 500. Add an 18-hour conference and the total is 1,440 minutes, on the $12 pack of 2,000 at $0.36 an audio hour. A team recording every week can look at the $19 a month Workspace.
Can I paste a link from IBM Video Streaming?
No, those links are not read. Download the archived video and upload it. If the same recording is shared as a Google Drive link, that link can be pasted.
Our conference video is 7 GB. What now?
Every file has a ceiling of 5 GB or 10 hours. Download a lower-quality rendition, split the day into two files, or extract the audio, since an MP3 at 128 kbps is only about 58 MB an hour (128 × 3,600 = 460,800 kilobits). Files above 2 GB start once a pack is on the account.
Can town halls be in other languages?
Yes. 99 languages are detected automatically, Japanese, Korean, Spanish and Swedish among them, and a session that switches languages is detected on its main one.
Which export formats come back?
TXT, DOCX, SRT, VTT and JSON, all made in the same pass. JSON keeps the timestamps for anyone building an internal search.
