Transcribe long recordings from Dacast paid events, after the stream.
A Dacast live event or VOD becomes text when the owner downloads the recording and uploads it here: a 6-hour paid event comes back in about 12 minutes. The first 20 minutes are free, that event uses 360 minutes of the $6 pack of 500, and a two-day, 14-hour event fits the $12 pack of 2,000.
After the ticketed stream
Paying attendees want the talk again, in text they can search.
The owner downloads it
The account that ran the event downloads the recording from Dacast, usually as an MP4; check the export settings for the version you need. Viewers of a paywalled event do not have that file and should not be capturing it. WhipScribe has no Dacast integration or plugin; it works on the downloaded file.
A long day in one file
A 6-hour event runs well past the 25 MB the OpenAI Whisper API accepts, and past the half hour many free tools allow. Here one file may hold up to 10 hours, so a full event day goes in once, with a single running clock from the opening remarks to the close.
Two days, one pack
Day one at 8 hours and day two at 6 hours is 840 minutes. That is past the $6 pack of 500 minutes, so the $12 pack of 2,000 covers both days with 1,160 left for the next event. Each day is uploaded as its own file.
What attendees get from it
Each session returns with a brief of its thesis and takeaways, chapters with timestamps, and the names, figures and dates presenters said. Turn the DOCX into session notes for paying attendees, or the SRT into captions on the replay. Presenters are named in the summary, quotes and chapters.
Paid event recordings elsewhere
A paid event deserves a written record that arrives the same day.

Recordings sit in the dashboard for weeks.
- Session notes promised and never sent

- A 25 MB limit on the OpenAI Whisper API
- Captions ordered one session at a time
- A running clock broken at every chunk
- Speakers' figures misquoted afterwards
✓ The same-day route
Download, upload, send attendees the text.
- The Dacast MP4 as downloaded
- Six hours read back in twelve minutes
- A chapter per session
- Takeaways in the brief, ready to share
- SRT and VTT for the replay
- DOCX for attendee notes

FAQ
Dacast recordings, the common questions.
How long does a 6-hour Dacast event take?
Plan on 12 minutes or so, since each audio hour takes about 2. The proof page shows a 4.94-hour file finished in 372 seconds.
What does an event, or a two-day event, cost?
A first-time visitor gets the event's first 20 minutes free. A 6-hour event is 360 minutes on the $6 pack of 500. A 14-hour, two-day event is 840 minutes on the $12 pack of 2,000, at $0.36 an audio hour. An organiser running events every week can also look at the $19 a month Workspace.
Can I paste a Dacast link?
No. Dacast links are not read; download the recording and upload it. If the session is also on YouTube or Vimeo, that link can be pasted.
What if the event recording is very large?
The cap for one file is 5 GB or 10 hours. Files up to 2 GB upload before the first pack, and larger files start once a pack is on the account. At 5 Mbps a 6-hour recording is 5 × 21,600 = 108,000 megabits, about 13.5 GB, so download a lower rendition or extract the audio to MP3 first.
Does it handle presenters in other languages?
Language detection covers 99 languages. A session in Portuguese, Hebrew or Japanese needs no setting, and a talk that switches languages is detected on its main one.
What do we download, and does the recording stay private?
Every session exports as TXT, DOCX, SRT, VTT and JSON from one run. Recordings are transcribed on our own servers and are never used for training.
