Transcribe recordings from an LG Voice Recorder get the archive off the old phone.
To transcribe recordings from the Voice Recorder on an older LG phone, copy the files to a computer or cloud folder and upload them here; each hour of audio takes about 2 minutes. The first 20 minutes are free, and an archive of 40 recordings averaging 50 minutes (2,000 minutes) fits the $12 pack of 2,000 minutes.
An old phone, a full archive
The phone is slowing down. The recordings on it should not go with it.
Copying everything at once
Older LG phones connect to a computer by USB as a media device, and the recordings usually sit in a folder with Voice, Recorder or Recordings in its name in internal storage. Copy the whole folder first, before you try anything else, so the archive is safe even if the phone stops charging. Sharing one recording at a time from the app also works.
Formats from a decade of phones
Depending on the model and year, LG's recorder saved files such as M4A, AAC, 3GA or AMR. Most upload as they are; if a file is refused, convert it to MP3 and send the copy. The box above takes files up to 500 MB, and anything larger goes through upload page.
Pricing an archive
Count the minutes before you buy. Forty recordings averaging 50 minutes is 2,000 minutes, exactly the $12 pack of 2,000. If the folder holds closer to 80 hours, about 4,800 minutes, the $24 pack of 5,000 covers it, and credits never expire, so the work can run over several weekends.
Finding what was in them
Each recording gets a brief with takeaways, chapters with timestamps, and the names, numbers and dates that were said. Old recordings with vague file names are easier to sort once the brief tells you what each one was.
Old phone recordings elsewhere
A drawer of old phones holds hours of recordings nobody has opened in years.

FAQ
LG Voice Recorder files, the common questions.
The phone no longer gets updates. Does that matter?
No. WhipScribe never connects to the phone; it only receives the files you copy off it and upload in a browser on any device.
Will a 3GA or AMR file upload?
Many do as they are. If one is refused, convert it to MP3 with a free audio converter and upload the copy; the words come through the same.
How long does a whole archive take?
About 2 minutes per audio hour for each file. Forty 50-minute recordings is about 33 hours of audio, so roughly an hour and seven minutes of processing in total, and you can upload while earlier files finish.
Is there a limit per file?
One file up to 10 hours or 5 GB, with uploads up to 2 GB before the first pack. Old phone recordings are small, usually a few MB to a few tens of MB.
How does the free part work?
On a first visit the first 20 minutes are free. A recording up to 20 minutes transcribes in full; a longer one is previewed, and a pack from $6 transcribes the remainder from where the preview ended.
What do I get back, and is it private?
TXT, DOCX, SRT, VTT and JSON, plus the brief and chapters. Recordings are transcribed on our own servers and are never used for training, and you can delete any recording with its transcript.
