Mixcloud plays your show as a stream and usually gives listeners no download button. Go back to the export you made before publishing, usually an MP3 or a WAV from your editing software, and drop it here. A master larger than the box on this page takes continues on the upload page.
Talk segments, not the playlist
Radio shows on Mixcloud mix speech with full tracks. Music is not transcribed, so the text holds the links between records, the interviews and the listener messages, and the chapters mark where each talk segment starts. The arithmetic on this page still uses the show's full running time.
Lecture series and talk radio
Not everything on Mixcloud is a DJ set. Spoken series, from public talks to phone-in programmes, are uploaded there as long single files, and each one comes back with a brief, timestamped chapters and the questions the speakers answered.
Names and dates read out on air

How long does a 2-hour Mixcloud show take to transcribe?
About 4 minutes, at roughly 2 minutes per hour of audio, and a three-hour lecture takes about 6. Published timings, including 2.48 hours finished in 200 seconds, are listed at /proof/long-files.
What does a weekly radio show cost?
One 2-hour show is 120 minutes on the $6 pack of 500. Four weekly shows make 480 minutes, which still fits that pack with 20 to spare. Half a year of weekly 2-hour shows, 26 episodes, is 3,120 minutes and belongs on the $24 pack of 5,000.
Can I paste a Mixcloud link instead of uploading?
No. Mixcloud is not one of the link types we fetch; those are YouTube, Vimeo, Twitch, Kick, Google Drive and podcast or RSS feeds. If the same show is also published to a podcast feed, paste the feed link, and otherwise upload the master you made before sending it to Mixcloud.
How big is the master, and does it need splitting?
A 2-hour MP3 at 128 kbps is about 115 MB (128,000 bits per second × 7,200 seconds ÷ 8). A 2-hour stereo WAV at CD quality is about 1.27 GB (1,411,200 × 7,200 ÷ 8), still under the 2 GB that uploads before the first pack. One file can run to 10 hours or 5 GB, so only a broadcast past 10 hours is sent as two files.
My show is in more than one language. Will that work?
The language is detected automatically from 99, including Spanish, Portuguese, Japanese and Swedish. A show that switches language is detected on its main language and the switches are handled. Sung lyrics, jingles and crowd noise are not transcribed.
Which files come back, and what happens to the show audio?
A single run of the master gives TXT, DOCX, SRT, VTT and JSON. Shows sent from a Mixcloud archive are transcribed on our own servers and are never used for training.
