Transcribe long Niconico recordings ニコニコ動画 streams in Japanese.
A long Niconico (ニコニコ動画) stream or video transcribes from a copy you are allowed to download, with Japanese detected automatically, and a 3-hour stream comes back in about 6 minutes. The first 20 minutes are free, and the $6 pack of 500 minutes covers that stream with 320 minutes left.
From the stream to Japanese text
Your broadcast in Japanese, as text you can search and quote.
Which copy to use
Use the copy you have the right to download: your own upload, or the file your streaming software saved while you broadcast. It is usually an MP4 or MKV; check your recording settings. A stream saved as video can run to several gigabytes, while the audio track alone is a small fraction of that. If the upload refuses the stream file, convert it to MP3 first.
Japanese without a setting
The language is detected from the speech, so a Japanese stream needs no language choice. Kanji, kana and the occasional English loanword come back as they were said. Background music under the talk is not transcribed.
Long streams and the pack rule
A stream over 6 hours starts once a pack is on the account, and before a pack, uploads go up to 2 GB. Ten 3-hour streams in a month are 1,800 minutes, which fits the $12 pack of 2,000. A single long stream on the $6 pack still leaves room for a shorter one later.
What the stream becomes
A brief with the thesis and takeaways, chapters with timestamps, and the names and numbers said. Use the chapters for a video description, SRT for subtitles on a re-upload, and the chat to find the moment a topic came up. Viewers who prefer reading to watching can skim the whole stream in a few minutes.
Japanese streams elsewhere
A three-hour Japanese stream is long for most tools and harder still when the tool expects English.

FAQ
Niconico recordings, the common questions.
How long does a 3-hour stream take to transcribe?
About 6 minutes, because processing runs near 2 minutes per audio hour. The proof page lists a 2.48-hour file in 200 seconds.
What does a month of streams cost?
The first 20 minutes are free on your first visit; a longer stream is previewed first. One 3-hour stream uses 180 minutes of the $6 pack of 500. Ten of them are 1,800 minutes on the $12 pack of 2,000. Prices are in USD.
Can I paste the Niconico link?
Niconico links are not read directly. Download the copy you are allowed to keep and upload it. If you also posted the stream on YouTube, paste the YouTube link instead.
What about an 8-hour stream?
It uploads as one file, since a file can run to 10 hours or 5 GB, and it starts once a pack is on the account. A video file that long may pass 5 GB, so save the audio as an MP3 first.
Is only Japanese supported?
No. Any of 99 languages is detected automatically. A stream that switches between Japanese and English is detected on its main language and the switches are handled. Names of games, places and people are written as heard, so check unusual spellings before you publish.
What comes back, and is my stream kept?
You can download TXT, DOCX, SRT, VTT and JSON. Stream files are transcribed on our own servers and are never used for training. WhipScribe has no link to Niconico and works only on the file you send.
