Transcribe long recordings stored on ownCloud your server keeps the file, you get the words.
To transcribe a recording that sits on an ownCloud server, download it from the web interface or take it from the desktop client's synced folder, then upload it here; a 4-hour seminar is text in about 8 minutes. The first 20 minutes are free, and twelve weekly seminars of 2.5 hours, 1,800 minutes, fit the $12 pack of 2,000 minutes.
Self-hosted, on purpose
You chose ownCloud so recordings stay on hardware you control. Transcribing one should not mean handing over the server.
One file leaves, nothing else does
Open the folder in the ownCloud web interface and download the recording from the file's menu, or, if the desktop client syncs that folder, pick the local copy straight from your computer. Menu wording varies between ownCloud versions and themes. We receive that one file and never an account, a share or a login.
Share links stay on your server
An ownCloud public link opens a page served by your own instance, not a media file, so it is not one of the links we read. Links we do fetch are YouTube, Vimeo, Twitch, Kick, Google Drive and podcast feeds. Files up to 500 MB go in the box above; anything larger continues on the upload page.
The seminar series, priced
A research group that records a 2.5-hour seminar every week for twelve weeks has 1,800 minutes. That is more than the $6 pack of 500 minutes, so the $12 pack of 2,000 minutes is the one, with 200 minutes left. A single 4-hour session, 240 minutes, fits the $6 pack on its own.
Text to put back beside the audio
Each recording returns a brief with the thesis and takeaways, chapters with timestamps, the names, figures and dates spoken, and the questions the session answered. Export DOCX for the minutes folder or JSON for your own index, then upload it to the same ownCloud folder as the source file.
Why self-hosted archives go quiet
Every seminar is stored, versioned and backed up. Finding the twenty minutes on methods still means scrubbing.

FAQ
ownCloud recordings: questions people ask.
Is there an ownCloud app or connector for WhipScribe?
No. There is no app, plugin or connector, and nothing is installed on your instance. You download the recording and upload it; your server, its users and its shares stay exactly as they are.
How long does a 4-hour file take?
About 8 minutes once the upload finishes, at roughly 2 minutes per hour of audio. A 90-minute meeting is back in about 3. A public proof page shows a 9.31-hour file finished in 1,033 seconds.
What does a term of seminars cost?
Twelve sessions of 2.5 hours make 1,800 minutes, which fits the $12 pack of 2,000 minutes. One session of up to about eight hours fits the $6 pack of 500 minutes. Forty sessions in a year, 6,000 minutes, take the $24 pack of 5,000 minutes together with the $12 pack of 2,000 minutes. Credits never expire.
The recording is a large video. Will it upload?
One file can be up to 10 hours or 5 GB. Before the first pack, uploads can be up to 2 GB; a bigger file starts once a pack is on the account. Common types such as MP4, MOV, M4A, MP3 and WAV usually go in as they are; if one is refused, convert it to MP3 or M4A first.
Our seminars switch between English and German. Does that matter?
99 languages are detected automatically, so there is nothing to set. A session that changes language is detected on its main language; check the passages in the other one before you quote them.
Where is the recording processed?
Recordings are transcribed on our own servers and are never used for training. Delete the uploaded copy and transcript from your Library once you have saved the text, and the ownCloud original remains the only copy.
