Transcribe recordings from a planning office hearings and public consultations.
A planning hearing of four hours comes back as text in about 8 minutes, and a two-hour consultation evening in about 4. The first 20 minutes are free, and a $6 pack of 500 minutes covers the rest of a four-hour hearing with 280 minutes left.
Where planning recordings come from
A committee webcast, a hearing room recorder, a consultation evening in a hired hall.
Webcasts and room recordings
Many planning committees stream or record their hearings. A webcast replay on YouTube or Vimeo can be pasted as a link; one on another player is downloaded first. Consultation sessions are often recorded by the planning team on a recorder at the front table, and a file up to 500 MB goes straight into the box above.
What comes back from a hearing
A brief with the main points raised, chapters with timestamps for each submission, the addresses, dates, heights and unit numbers said, and the questions the hearing answered. The chair, officers, applicant and objectors are named in the summary and chapters when introduced.
Not an official record
This is an AI transcript to work from, not a certified or official transcript, and nothing on this page is legal advice. Where a formal record of the hearing is needed, the authority's own record stands; the transcript helps you find and check what was said.
A consultation round, priced
Six consultation evenings of two hours are 720 minutes; two hearings of four hours add 480, so the round is 1,200 minutes. The $12 pack of 2,000 covers it with 800 left. A whole eight-hour hearing day is 480 minutes and fits the $6 pack of 500.
Why hearing notes fall short
Forty objectors, three minutes each, and a summary report due by Friday.
✗ Notes taken on the night
Officers and residents' groups write fast and still miss the point that mattered to the decision.
- Submissions summarised from memory
- A webcast with no way to search it
- Hours replaying for one quote
- Addresses and figures noted wrongly
- Upload caps below one hearing file
- A monthly plan for a few hearings a year
✓ The hearing as searchable text
One upload or link returns the full hearing, organised so a report can quote it.
- Each submission found by chapter
- Addresses and figures listed
- Applicant and objectors named in the summary
- Quotes checked by timestamp
- DOCX for the consultation report
- Hearings up to 10 hours per file

FAQ
Planning office recordings, answered.
How quickly is a hearing transcribed?
At about 2 minutes per hour of audio, a four-hour hearing is ready in around 8 minutes and an eight-hour day in about 16.
What does one hearing cost?
The first 20 minutes are free on a first visit. For a four-hour hearing the remaining 220 minutes come from a $6 pack of 500, and the 280 left stay on the account with no expiry.
The webcast is on the council's own player.
Pasted links are accepted from YouTube, Vimeo, Google Drive, Twitch, Kick and podcast feeds. For any other player, download the recording if it is offered, or ask the planning team for the file, then upload it.
A hearing ran longer than 10 hours.
Each file can be up to 10 hours or 5 GB, so a hearing that ran past that goes in as two files, split at an adjournment. Before the first pack, uploads up to 2 GB start straight away; a larger one starts after a pack is on the account.
Residents spoke in other languages.
Each file is transcribed on its main language, detected automatically from 99. A submission given wholly in another language can be clipped and uploaded on its own to come back in that language.
Is the recording kept private?
Recordings are transcribed on our own servers and are never used for training. You can export TXT, DOCX, SRT, VTT and JSON, and can delete the recording after the report is written.
