Your server, one file at a time

You chose self-hosted storage on purpose. Only the file you pick leaves it, and only to be transcribed.

Three ways to get the file

Download it from the library in the web interface, copy it from a synced folder on your computer, or open a download link someone shared with you and save the file. WhipScribe cannot fetch a Seafile link itself, so the file always comes through your own machine.

Encrypted libraries

If the library is encrypted, open it with its password in the web interface or client first, as you normally would, and download the file. WhipScribe never asks for your server address, account or library password.

A study's worth of sessions

Thirty focus groups of 2.5 hours are 4,500 minutes, more than the $12 pack holds. The $24 pack of 5,000 covers the study with 500 minutes left for follow-up interviews.

Text to file back

Each session returns a timestamped transcript, chapters, a brief with the thesis and takeaways, the questions the group discussed, and the names, figures and dates mentioned. Participants are named in the summary, key quotes and chapters when they are named in the room.

An archive you cannot search

Thirty focus groups in a library, and the only index is the file name and the date.

✗ Stored, not searchable

Every session archived, none of them readable.

  • Hours of audio per session
  • Search that sees only file names
  • Coding done while listening
  • Quotes checked by replaying
  • No timestamps to cite
  • A backlog nobody gets through

✓ Stored and transcribed

Download once, upload once, file the text beside the audio.

  • About 5 minutes per session
  • An M4A of about 144 MB
  • Chapters by discussion topic
  • Questions discussed, listed
  • DOCX or TXT back in the library
  • $24 for thirty sessions

FAQ

Seafile recordings, answered.

How long does a 2.5-hour recording from Seafile take?

About 5 minutes after the upload, at roughly 2 minutes per hour of audio. Downloading from your own server first is usually quick on the same network.

Can I paste a Seafile share link?

No. Links work for YouTube, Vimeo, Twitch, Kick, Google Drive and podcast feeds only. Download the file from Seafile and upload it.

What does a study cost?

The opening 20 minutes are free for a first-time visitor; past that, the session is previewed and a pack transcribes the rest from the preview's end. One 2.5-hour session uses 150 minutes of the $6 pack. Thirty sessions fit the $24 pack of 5,000. No subscription, and credits never expire.

Is there a Seafile plugin or connector?

No. There is no plugin, connector or server access. You download the recording and upload it, so your Seafile setup stays exactly as it is.

What sizes and formats work?

Common audio and video files such as MP3, M4A, WAV and MP4 upload as they are. One file can be up to 10 hours or 5 GB; before a first pack the limit is 2 GB. The box here takes 500 MB and the main upload page takes the rest. Longer than 10 hours means two files.

What happens to the recording?

Files are transcribed on our own servers and never used for training. Download TXT, DOCX, SRT, VTT or JSON to file next to the audio; 99 languages are detected automatically.
