Exported from Steam · up to 10 h or 5 GB · about 2 min per audio hour

Transcribe a long Steam game recording with your commentary intact.

Export the session from Steam's game recording to a video file, then upload it here, up to 10 hours or 5 GB; if the run was streamed, a YouTube, Twitch or Kick link works without exporting anything. A 4-hour session with commentary is text in about 8 minutes, the first 20 minutes are free, and 240 minutes leaves 260 spare on the $6 pack of 500 minutes.

Steam keeps the run. You keep the words.

Steam records while you play. Turning what you said into notes or captions is one upload.

Export before you upload

Steam stores game recordings in its own format, so open the recording from the Steam overlay or the Recordings & Screenshots view and use the export or share option to save a video file, usually an MP4. Pick the whole session rather than a short clip if you want every word.

Background recording has a limit

If you record in the background, Steam keeps only a set amount of recent time, chosen in its game recording settings. For a long commentary session, switch to manual recording or raise that limit first, or the early hours will not be there to export.

Six sessions on one pack

One 4-hour session uses 240 minutes. Six of them make 1,440 minutes, which fits the $12 pack of 2,000 minutes with 560 to spare. Credits never expire, so the rest waits for next month.

Too big for this box

This page takes files up to 500 MB. A longer export can go to the upload page, which accepts up to 5 GB per file; before the first pack, the ceiling there is 2 GB.

After a long run

Four hours of play leave plenty of good lines and no quick way to find them.

✗ Watching it back

The export sits on your drive and the only index is the timeline.

  • Rewatching to find a tip you gave
  • Highlight titles written from memory
  • The OpenAI Whisper API refuses past 25 MB
  • Background buffer that lost hour one
  • Captions typed for every short
  • No record of what chat asked you

✓ The export, uploaded

A session you can read, search and cut from.

  • Every spoken line in searchable text
  • Chapters that follow each level or match
  • The questions you answered, listed
  • Timestamps that match the video
  • About 8 minutes for 4 hours
  • SRT and VTT for each clip

FAQ

Steam game recordings, answered.

How fast is a 4-hour Steam session?

About 8 minutes, at roughly 2 minutes per hour of audio. The proof page shows a 9.31-hour file done in 1,033 seconds.

Do I need to export from Steam first?

Yes. The raw recording stays inside Steam's own storage, so use the export or share option to save a video file. The exact menu wording can change between Steam updates; look for export on the recording or the clip.

How much do several sessions cost?

The first 20 minutes are free for a first-time visitor, and a longer session is previewed before a pack finishes it. One 4-hour session is 240 minutes on the $6 pack of 500 minutes. Six sessions make 1,440 minutes on the $12 pack; past 2,000 minutes, the $24 pack of 5,000 minutes.

The export is too big. Can I send audio only?

Yes. Save the audio track as MP3 with any converter: four hours at 128 kbps is about 230 MB, small enough for the box on this page. Video over 5 GB, or over 2 GB before a pack, needs this step.

What about a session longer than 10 hours?

Export it in two parts and upload each one. Each file can run to 10 hours or 5 GB.

Which exports do I get, and who sees the recording?

TXT, DOCX, SRT, VTT and JSON. Your recording is processed on our own servers and never goes into training data.
