Transcribe long conference days recorded on a Tascam DR-60D the clean sound from under the camera.
A 5-hour conference day recorded on a Tascam DR-60D comes back as text in about 10 minutes once you upload the WAV or MP3 from its SD card, up to 10 hours or 5 GB per file. The first 20 minutes are free on a first visit; one 5-hour day uses 300 of the $6 pack's 500 minutes, and a three-day conference, 900 minutes, fits the $12 pack of 2,000.
Under the camera, on the card
The DR-60D sits under the camera and records the good audio separately. That card is where the transcript starts.
From SD card to this page
The recorder writes to an SD card. Put the card in a reader, or connect the DR-60D by USB where it usually shows up as a drive, find the day's takes by time, and copy them off. If the session also went to YouTube as a live stream, pasting the replay link skips the upload.
Five hours of WAV is heavy
A 5-hour stereo WAV at 48 kHz and 24-bit is about 5.2 GB, just past the 5 GB ceiling. Record in mono, at 16-bit, or keep an MP3 for transcription: 5 hours at 128 kbps is under 300 MB. Files over 500 MB continue on the upload page, and anything over 2 GB waits for the first pack.
Long takes in several parts
Many recorders start a new file when a take reaches a set size, so one session can arrive as two or three WAVs; the manual says where the DR-60D splits. Upload the parts in order, or join them in an editor so the timestamps follow the conference programme. If a safety track at a lower level was recorded too, upload just one of the two.
What a conference day turns into
A brief with the day's thesis and takeaways, a chapter for each talk and panel with timestamps, the names, figures and dates presenters gave, and the questions the audience asked. Presenters are named in the summary, key quotes and chapters, and SRT or VTT captions the session videos.
Conference audio without text
Three days of talks recorded cleanly, and the write-up still waits for someone to listen to fifteen hours.

FAQ
Tascam DR-60D recordings, answered.
How long does a 5-hour DR-60D recording take?
About 10 minutes, at roughly 2 minutes per hour of audio. A single 50-minute talk is back in under 2.
My WAV is over 5 GB. What should I do?
Upload an MP3 copy, export a mono version, or split the day at the lunch break into two files. Each file can be up to 10 hours or 5 GB, and before the first pack the limit is 2 GB.
What does a three-day conference cost?
Three 5-hour days are 900 minutes. That is more than the $6 pack of 500, so it fits the $12 pack of 2,000 with 1,100 left for the next event. A single day fits the $6 pack. Packs are one-time and minutes never expire.
Can I upload a talk in another language?
Yes. The language is detected automatically from 99, a talk that switches language is transcribed on its main one, and English terms inside the speech are kept. Applause and walk-in music are not transcribed; the speech is.
Does WhipScribe connect to the recorder or the camera?
No. There is no integration, plugin or bot with Tascam's recorders or any camera. You copy the files off the card and upload them, or paste a link.
Which exports come back, and who hears the talks?
TXT, DOCX, SRT, VTT and JSON. Recordings are transcribed on our own servers and are never used for training.
