Transcribe a long recording kept in Tresorit without leaving the file on a stranger's link.
To transcribe a long recording stored in Tresorit, open the share or your synced Tresorit folder, save the decrypted file to your computer and upload it here; a 4-hour recording comes back as text in about 8 minutes. Those 240 minutes fit inside the $6 pack of 500 minutes, and a single file can run to 10 hours or 5 GB.
Encrypted storage, readable text
Tresorit keeps the recording sealed. You still need to know what was said in it.
Why the link stays with you
Tresorit is built on end-to-end encryption, so the recording is decrypted on your device when you open a share, not on a server we could reach. That is the reason a Tresorit link cannot be pasted into WhipScribe. Save the file locally first; if the folder already syncs to your computer through the Tresorit app, the copy may be on your disk already.
From the saved file to the job
Recordings of meetings and interviews usually arrive as MP4 or M4A, but check what the person who recorded it exported. Anything up to 500 MB goes straight into the box above; a bigger file carries on through the upload page, still up to 10 hours or 5 GB.
The arithmetic for a quarter
Four 3-hour leadership sessions in a quarter add up to 720 minutes. That is more than the $6 pack holds, so the $12 pack of 2,000 minutes is the one to buy, and 1,280 minutes stay on the account for the next quarter because credits never expire.
What you read instead of replaying
The four hours open with a brief: the thesis, the takeaways, chapters with timestamps, and the names, sums and dates that were said aloud. The questions the recording answers are listed, and a chat over the transcript finds the passage you half remember.
Where a sealed recording goes unread
The file is safe. Nobody has had four hours to listen to it.
✗ Leaving it in the vault
Secure, shared, and never opened again.
- Four hours of audio with no index
- One person summarising from memory
- Decisions nobody can quote back
- The 25 MB upload limit of the OpenAI Whisper API
- A share link that expires before the review
- Notes typed with the player paused
✓ Saved, uploaded, read
A local copy goes up once and comes back as searchable text.
- 240 minutes back in about 8 minutes
- Chapters you can jump through by time
- Figures and dates pulled out of the talk
- DOCX to file next to the recording
- Speakers named in the summary
- Recording and transcript deletable afterwards

FAQ
Tresorit recordings: what people ask.
Can I paste a Tresorit share link instead of uploading?
No. The links WhipScribe fetches are YouTube, Vimeo, Twitch, Kick, Google Drive and podcast feeds. A Tresorit share decrypts on your side, so save the file and upload that copy.
How long does a four-hour recording take?
Roughly 8 minutes of processing once the upload finishes, at about 2 minutes per hour of audio. A 9.31-hour file finished in 1,033 seconds on our public proof page.
What will a single long session cost?
Four hours is 240 minutes, inside the $6 pack of 500 minutes. A first-time visitor also gets the first 20 minutes free; a longer recording is previewed, and a pack transcribes the rest from where the preview stopped.
My recording is 3.5 GB. Does it go up?
Yes, once a pack is on the account: before the first pack the limit is 2 GB. The ceiling for any file is 5 GB or 10 hours; past 10 hours, split it into two files.
Is the copy I upload treated as confidential?
Recordings are transcribed on our own servers and are never used for training. Delete the file and the transcript from your Library when you no longer need them, and keep the original in Tresorit.
Which formats come back?
TXT and DOCX for reading and filing, SRT and VTT if the recording is a video that needs captions, and JSON for anyone who wants to process the text further.
