Transcribe a long VIQ Solutions recording and find each answer by its time.
To transcribe a long recording made on a VIQ Solutions system, export the audio or video through whoever administers it, or request a copy from the court or agency that holds it, and upload the file here; a two-and-a-half-hour interview is ready in about 5 minutes. The first 20 minutes are free, and three such interviews (450 minutes) fit the $6 pack of 500 minutes with 50 left.
From the interview room to text
Hours of questions, each answer one click from its moment.
Who can export
VIQ systems are run by courts, police services and other agencies, and copies leave the system through their own release process. If you are entitled to a copy, ask for a standard audio file or an MP4; if you have access yourself, check the export settings with the administrator. When the upload will not take the file, convert it to MP3 first.
Interview rooms and courtrooms
Interview-room recordings are often video of two or three people in a small room, while courtroom recordings carry several microphones. Either way, ask for an export with all the voices in one mix. The speech is transcribed; background hum and door noise are not. Where an interviewee speaks very quietly, check the key answers against the audio at their timestamps.
Long interviews in one go
An interview of several hours, breaks included, fits one file of up to 10 hours or 5 GB. Before the first pack, files up to 2 GB upload, so a long video may need a pack first or an audio-only copy. Big files can go through the upload page.
A working copy, said once
Interviewer, interviewee and anyone else present are named in the summary, quotes and chapters, and the times, places and numbers mentioned are listed. This is an AI transcript with timestamps for working from, not a certified or official transcript and not legal advice.

FAQ
VIQ recordings, the common questions.
How long does a VIQ interview recording take?
About 2 minutes per audio hour: a 2.5-hour interview in roughly 5 minutes, a six-hour court day in about 12.
What do several interviews cost?
Three 2.5-hour interviews are 450 minutes and fit the $6 pack of 500. Twenty interviews of that length are 3,000 minutes, so the $24 pack of 5,000 is the right buy.
What file type comes out of VIQ?
It depends on the system and the release process. MP4, WAV and MP3 upload directly; if the upload refuses the file, convert it to MP3 first.
How large can a VIQ export be?
Up to 10 hours or 5 GB, whichever comes first, and up to 2 GB before your first pack. Anything longer than 10 hours is split into two files at a break.
What about interviews in another language?
The interview language is detected automatically from 99. An interview that switches between English and another language is detected on its main language, and the switches are handled.
Which exports are there, and is a VIQ interview kept private?
Interview text downloads as TXT, DOCX, SRT, VTT and JSON. Interview exports are transcribed on our own servers and are never used for training, and you can delete them when the work is finished.
