Transcribe whole days from a Zoom F2 the lavalier recorder worn from start to finish.
An 8-hour day recorded on a Zoom F2 lavalier recorder transcribes in about 16 minutes, but its 32-bit float WAV at 48 kHz is about 5.5 GB, so send a 16-bit or MP3 copy under 5 GB. The first 20 minutes are free, and the 480 minutes fit the $6 pack of 500 with 20 to spare.
Clipped on at nine, uploaded at six
The F2 rides on a belt all day with one lavalier. The file it leaves is long, clear and heavy.
Off the card
The F2 records to a microSD card. Connect it by USB to copy the files, or use a card reader. A full day may be saved as several files rather than one; upload them in order, or join them in an editor so the timestamps run through the whole day.
Float, by the hour
One channel of 32-bit float at 48 kHz is 192,000 bytes a second, about 691 MB an hour. Eight hours is close to 5.5 GB, past the 5 GB a single upload accepts, so export the day as 16-bit (about 2.8 GB) or as an MP3 of a few hundred megabytes.
One voice, very clear
A lavalier hears the wearer best and other people less. For a guide, a teacher or a presenter that is ideal; for a conversation, a second F2 on the other speaker, mixed with the first, keeps both voices even.
What a day turns into
The day returns with a brief, chapters with timestamps through the hours, the names, places and figures mentioned, and the questions people asked. The proof page shows 9.31 hours of audio finished in 1,033 seconds.
Day-long recordings elsewhere
Wearing a recorder all day is easy. Finding minute 312 afterwards is not.

FAQ
Zoom F2 recordings, the common questions.
How long does an 8-hour F2 day take to transcribe?
About 16 minutes after the upload. A half-day of four hours takes around 8.
Will the F2 float WAV upload?
A file under 5 GB will: up to 2 GB before a pack, above that once a pack is on the account. A day of mono float passes 5 GB at about seven hours, so a full day needs a 16-bit or MP3 copy.
What does a week of F2 days cost?
Five 8-hour days are 2,400 minutes, which belongs on the $24 pack of 5,000. A single day uses 480 of the 500 minutes in the $6 pack, and the first 20 minutes on a first visit are free.
The day is longer than 10 hours. What then?
Split it into two files at a natural break, such as lunch. Each file can be up to 10 hours or 5 GB, and each gets its own transcript.
Is there an integration with the F2?
No. There is no app link, plugin or bot; WhipScribe works on the file afterwards. Copy it off the microSD and upload it, or paste a Google Drive share link.
Languages, exports and privacy?
99 languages are detected automatically, and a day that moves between two languages is detected on its main one. Take it away as TXT, DOCX, SRT, VTT or JSON. A day of someone's voice deserves care: recordings are transcribed on our own servers and are never used for training. Record other people only with their agreement.
