Transcribe long podcasts and panels from a Zoom H6essential six inputs, one mix, one transcript.
A 4-hour panel recorded on a Zoom H6essential is transcribed in about 8 minutes, but a 32-bit float stereo mix of that length is about 5.5 GB, so export a 16-bit or MP3 copy under 5 GB first. The first 20 minutes are free, the 240 minutes fit the $6 pack of 500, and a quarter of 2.5-hour weekly episodes fits the $12 pack of 2,000.
A table of mics, one file
Four XLR inputs and the X/Y capsule cover a whole panel. The transcript needs them in one mix.
Tracks on the card
Each take lands on the microSD card, and depending on settings the H6essential keeps a separate WAV per input alongside the capsule's stereo file. Open the take's folder before choosing what to send; a single guest's track hears that guest and little else.
Mix before you upload
Bring every mic into one mix in your editor or podcast software, level the quiet guest, and export. Uploading one mix gives one transcript where the host, each panellist and the audience questions sit in order.
Size it under 5 GB
Stereo float at 48 kHz is about 1.38 GB an hour, so a 4-hour mix reaches 5.5 GB. The same mix as 16-bit stereo is about 2.8 GB and starts once a pack is on the account; a 128 kbps MP3 is about 230 MB and starts at once.
Show notes from the episode
Each episode returns with a brief, chapters with timestamps for the description, key quotes with the panellists named, and the names, figures and dates mentioned. Thirteen weekly episodes of 2.5 hours come to 1,950 minutes, which the $12 pack of 2,000 covers.
Multitrack podcasts elsewhere
Six inputs make a great-sounding panel and an awkward file to transcribe.
✗ Where a long episode stalls
Isolated tracks and oversized mixes.
- A 25 MB ceiling on uploads to the OpenAI Whisper API
- Six tracks, six disconnected transcripts
- A float mix too big to send
- Panellists blurred into one voice
- Chapter times typed by hand
- Show notes written from memory
✓ A panel as one document
One mix, sized right, read in order.
- 16-bit or MP3 mix under 5 GB
- Four hours back in about 8 minutes
- Panellists named in the quotes
- Chapters ready for the episode page
- SRT and VTT for the video upload
- A quarter of episodes on a $12 pack

FAQ
Zoom H6essential recordings, the common questions.
How long does a 4-hour H6essential panel take?
About 8 minutes. On the proof page, a 4.94-hour file came back in 372 seconds.
Will a 32-bit float mix upload?
Under 5 GB, yes; files up to 2 GB start before a pack and larger ones once a pack is on the account. A float stereo mix crosses 5 GB at about three and a half hours, so a longer panel needs a 16-bit or MP3 export.
What does a season of long episodes cost?
Thirteen episodes of 2.5 hours are 1,950 minutes, on the $12 pack of 2,000. A single 4-hour panel fits the $6 pack of 500 with 260 left, and the first 20 minutes on a first visit are free. A studio that records every week may prefer the $19/month Workspace.
Should I upload each guest's track separately?
Only if you want a transcript per guest. For one readable record of the conversation, upload the mix; the summary, key quotes and chapters name the speakers.
Is there an integration with the H6essential?
No. WhipScribe has no plugin for the recorder or its companion software. Export the mix, then upload it here, or paste a YouTube, Vimeo or podcast feed link once the episode is published.
Languages, exports and privacy?
99 languages, detected automatically; a panel in Spanish, Swedish or Korean needs no setting. Downloads are TXT, DOCX, SRT, VTT and JSON. Unaired conversations stay that way: recordings are transcribed on our own servers and are never used for training.
