Transcribe a Mandarin radio show the talk, without the playlist.

A recorded Mandarin talk radio programme, from a one-hour show to a three-hour block, is transcribed at about 2 minutes per hour of audio, so a 2-hour block takes roughly 4 minutes. The first 20 minutes are free, and a week of daily 1-hour shows is 420 minutes, which fits the $6 pack of 500.

What a radio recording needs

The phone-ins and interviews in text, the songs left out.

Music is not transcribed

Talk radio carries songs, jingles and station idents between the conversations. Music is not transcribed; the hosts, the callers and the interview are. The timestamps still follow the full recording, so a quotation can be found in the air check.

Segments become chapters

Each programme comes back with chapters where the topic changes, a brief of what was discussed, and the names, places and numbers mentioned on air. Finding the caller who raised the bus route question takes a glance.

A month of shows

A daily 1-hour show for thirty days is 1,800 minutes, inside the $12 pack of 2,000. A week of them, 420 minutes, fits the $6 pack of 500 with 80 minutes spare. All prices are US dollars, and unused credits stay on the account.

Long logger files are fine

A logging recorder can save a whole morning as one file. Anything up to 10 hours or 5 GB goes in at once through upload page, and a 3-hour block is text in about 6 minutes.

Why radio archives go unsearched

Hours of broadcast audio, and the one quotation you need is somewhere in the middle.

✗ Logger audio only

Programmes are saved for the record but nobody can search them, so finding a remark means listening again. Producers and researchers who need a remark from last month usually rely on someone remembering roughly when it aired. Logger files are long, and the talk is scattered between songs and adverts.

  • Scrubbing hours for one caller
  • Songs typed out with the talk
  • Tools capped at an hour
  • No index of segments
  • Mandarin forced into English settings
  • Per-seat pricing for a small team

✓ A searchable archive

Every programme as Mandarin text, chaptered by segment, with a clock to the original audio. A researcher searches the text, finds the caller, and jumps to the timestamp in the logger file to hear the exact words. Each programme's chapters and brief make a running index of what the station has covered.

  • About 4 minutes per 2-hour block
  • The talk in text, the music skipped
  • Hosts and callers named in the summary
  • Topics and figures in the brief
  • Chat to find what was said on air
  • TXT and JSON for the archive

Sample

A two-hour Mandarin phone-in, four moments.

This sample is illustrative and was written for this page; the programme, hosts and callers are invented. Lines appear in Mandarin as they would come back.

FAQ

Mandarin radio recordings, answered.

How long does a 2-hour radio block take?

Around 4 minutes, given a pace near 2 minutes per audio hour. A 3-hour morning block takes around 6.

What does a month of programmes cost?

Thirty daily 1-hour shows come to 1,800 minutes, which the $12 pack of 2,000 covers. Six months of the same show, 10,800 minutes, needs three $24 packs of 5,000 each. The first 20 minutes on a first visit are free, and buying a pack finishes a longer show from where the preview stopped.

Are songs and adverts transcribed?

Songs, jingles and background music are not transcribed. Spoken adverts are speech, so they appear in the text with their timestamps. Sung lyrics count as music here, so a song played during a segment leaves a gap in the text rather than a garbled verse.

How large can a logger recording be?

Up to 10 hours or 5 GB per file, whichever is reached first. A 3-hour block saved as a 128 kbps MP3 is about 173 MB (128 kbps is 16 KB a second, times 10,800 seconds), far under the 2 GB that uploads allow before a first pack.

Do I need to split a full day of broadcast?

Only when it runs longer than 10 hours. A 16-hour broadcast day goes in as two files of 8 hours.

What can I export, and does the audio stay private?

The archive can take TXT, DOCX, SRT, VTT or JSON files. Station recordings are transcribed on our own servers and is never used for training.
