Workshops and meetups · about 2 min per audio hour · first 20 min free

Transcribe a recording made in a coworking space glass walls, espresso machine and all.

A workshop or meetup recorded on a laptop in a coworking space usually runs two to three hours, and a 3-hour file comes back as text in about 6 minutes. The first 20 minutes are free on your first visit, and a $6 pack of 500 minutes covers the rest of a 3-hour session with at least 320 minutes to spare.

What a shared room does to the audio

Hard surfaces and a laptop at the back of the room still give you a usable record.

Why the room sounds hollow

Coworking event spaces are built from glass partitions, concrete floors and open ceilings. Speech bounces off all of them, so a laptop microphone hears the presenter plus a short echo. The speech model works through that echo well enough to give you full sentences, and the timestamps let you check any line that sounds off.

Noise from the rest of the floor

A coffee grinder, phone-booth doors and people chatting by the kitchen all reach the recording. None of that is speech aimed at the room, so most of it drops out. Quiet side conversations near the laptop can surface as stray words, which you can delete in a minute.

The arithmetic for a long evening

A three-hour session is 180 minutes. On a $6 pack of 500 minutes that leaves at least 320 minutes for next month's meetups, which is about five more evenings of two hours each. Each audio hour takes about 2 minutes to process. You can also use upload page if the laptop saved a very large video.

What you hand to people who missed it

The transcript comes back with a brief stating the thesis and takeaways, chapters with timestamps, and the names, numbers and dates said on stage. Speakers are identified and named in the summary, key quotes and chapters, so a recap email can credit each presenter.

Where it usually goes wrong

A laptop recording of a community event tends to sit unwatched in a folder.

✗ The usual route

Someone records the evening, means to write it up, and the file is too long to scrub through.

  • A 3-hour video nobody rewatches
  • Free tiers that stop well short of the end
  • Notes taken by whoever was not talking
  • Q&A answers that nobody wrote down
  • A recap that credits the wrong speaker
  • Echo that makes skimming the audio tiring

✓ Uploaded once

The whole evening returns as searchable text with the structure already built.

  • Roughly 6 minutes for 3 hours
  • Free for the first 20 minutes
  • Chapters per talk and per question
  • Presenters named in the summary
  • Every quote linked to its timestamp
  • Five download formats from the same run

Sample

A meetup recorded on a laptop, as it comes back.

This sample is illustrative and was written for this page. It is not taken from a real event, and the timestamps show a three-hour evening.

00:02:10 Grab a seat near the front if you can, the microphone on this laptop is at the back and it hears the coffee machine better than me.
00:18:44 The pilot ran for six weeks with forty people, and the number that mattered was how many came back in week three.
01:12:30 We moved the standup to the afternoon because half the team was in a different time zone.
02:31:05 Did you publish the template, or is that internal for now?
02:58:40 Thanks for staying. The recording and the notes will go out on the community board this week.

FAQ

Coworking space recordings, the common questions.

How long does a 3-hour coworking workshop take to transcribe?

About 6 minutes. The speed is roughly 2 minutes for every hour of audio, so a two-hour meetup is closer to 4. You can close the tab, and the result waits in your Library.

What does a 3-hour session cost?

On your first visit, the first 20 minutes of the session are free. The full 180 minutes fit inside a $6 pack of 500 minutes, leaving at least 320 minutes on the account. Credits never expire and no subscription is involved.

The laptop saved a huge video file. Will it upload?

Before you buy a pack, uploads up to 2 GB are accepted, and a file over 2 GB starts once a pack is on the account. The ceiling is 5 GB or 10 hours per file, whichever comes first. If the screen capture made the file large, exporting just the audio keeps it small.

Do I need to split the evening into one file per talk?

No. One upload keeps the whole evening on one clock, and the chapters mark where each talk and the Q&A begin. Split only if you want separate documents for separate presenters.

Our meetups mix English with another language. Does that work?

Speech in 99 languages is picked up automatically. A recording that switches language is detected on its main language, and English and Tagalog switches in one recording are handled.

Which exports do I get, and who can see the audio?

One run gives you TXT, DOCX, SRT, VTT and JSON. Recordings are transcribed on our own servers and are never used for training, and you can delete a file and its transcript whenever you like.
